900 Global Solid Coverstocks
« on: April 04, 2018, 09:47:50 AM »
Hey everybody!

I've been rolling Global pieces on and off for about a year. In the last 3 months, I've started really using them more often.

One rather unique bit I see about the Global solid balls is that they all see the lane pretty damn early! They don't necessarily hook early, but they all seem to start reading the lane earlier than other company's solid pieces. Part of me wants to say their reactive resin has a bit of 'pure' urethane in it.

Anybody else see this?

I agree with this. Haven't thrown actual 900 Global solids, but I had some ASO balls and currently have some Monster balls - both poured by 900 Global. Even the pearls have a fairly smooth roll.

I believe all resins are urethane based, but perhaps they don't put as many additives in their coverstocks. I know the ASO Cheater definitely had a urethane-like motion for me.

Hey Jazlar, that's good to know. I hadn't realized 100% urethane balls were fairly close cousins to the reactive resin balls.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this behavior. I haven't seen an ASO bowling balls, but I've seen a fair number of Monster bowling balls roll down the lane. They're all quite rolly, and pretty continuous. I'd say the Monster pieces I've seen are a bit more rolly than the Global pieces. The Monster Kraken rolls at toes!

It depends on the strength of the cover. Imo, S70 used to read the lane sooner.

I realized quickly that the Kraken rolls at your feet. And of course I had it drilled pin down. My only asym drilled pin down. I tried using that and the Lochness last year in summer league. Thought the balls were duds. Just seemed to puke all the way down lane. That was until I got far enough left to catch enough oil. Definitely out of my comfort zone. Definitely useful when I see enough oil to let me play straighter, but they are mostly sitting in my closet for the time being. The Boogieman does come out fairly often. Still want to get the Vamp.

The Cheater ball I had was the first one - all blue. Really good control ball. I had that, the first Outbreak and the red/purple Legit. Really loved that Legit. Boogieman is fairly similar though.
