Congrats to Walter Ray
« on: April 04, 2010, 12:57:47 PM »
I'm somewhat surprised that no one has posted this here on the 900 Global message board.  Id' like to congratulate Walter Ray on becoming the PBA Player of the Year for a record 7th time.  This is a plus for 900 Global.  Its great to see the most winningest player in PBA history win the POY with 900 Global equipment.  I don't see him slowing down anytime soon.  It will be interesting to see what damage he does when he starts to bowl in the senior tournaments.  I know it's a long shot, but it would be cool for him to win both the US Open and Senior US open in the same year and what about POY in both too?  It wouldn't surprise me if he starts making more "history" that I don't think will ever be broken.

Walter is still on tops with with game and when you look at what he accomplished it is nothing short of amazing.  His showing in the plastic ball tournament shows just how versatile a player he is.  Congrats to him on a fantastic season and another POY award.

Congratulations to DEAD EYE! How about a 50 year old guy beating up on all of these younger "Superstars!" It's not how you crank it...its how consistent you are over the long haul of a season. Walter Ray...you are the BEST---no question about it!!!

900 Global would like to congratulate Walter Ray Williams Jr. as this year’s PBA Player of the Year recipient.

Walter captured two tournaments, the Motor City Open and the 2010 USBC Master’s, while making three other telecasts and earning over $145,000 in 17 tournaments. At age 50, Walter becomes the oldest winner of the award, while capturing yet another record that he shared with Earl Anthony, as he becomes the first 7-time winner of the award.

Walter stated: “To capture the Player of the Year Award multiple times is simply incredible. When I started out, I never dreamed of anything like this. It’s been a fun year since joining the 900 Global team. I matched up quickly, winning with the Bounty Hunter in Detroit, and then I really liked the different look I got with the Break Out.”

900 Global: What do you see different about the two balls?

Walter: “The Bounty Hunter has a strong motion, but is less violent off the spot than the Break Out. I really liked the Break Out reaction toward the end of the season. Most people don’t see me play the inside portion of the lane, but I was crossing 6th and 7th arrows later in the blocks at Lumber Liquidators Marathon Open and had a good look. It didn’t take me long to gain confidence in the 900 Global line once I started throwing it. I’ve known some of the ball techs for years and knew the quality of their work, and that they would develop a versatile lineup.”
