Black Ops vs Special Ops
« on: August 15, 2016, 10:18:45 PM »
Last season I drilled a black ops, took the polish off and threw it at 4000 on my THS, the ball was money. But this house tends to break down quick, is the Special Ops really a bit smoother off the break? Im wondering if I drilled them the same and same surface how much longer and smoother it would be???

Well, since your post is just getting spammed, let me offer my 2 cents. The Black and Special are similar to the Black Eagle and War Eagle. My War Eagle is easily 5 boards weaker and smoother off the back. I even have my WE drilled stronger, and it's great when I don't want to play too much left to right.

I was actually wondering about these two balls as well... the "specs" are so similar.  I used to love the AMF Velocity, and someone on the forums recommended I look into the Black Ops a few months back.  I stumbled onto the Special Ops recently as well and was wondering if that might be the better option..but I'm still stumped.

I'm a down and in guy (right handed, try to throw over 2nd arrow).  I like a controlled motion with a strong back-end.. or so that's what it seems.  Despite bowling for a while, the terminology sometimes stumps me. :)  I throw between 12.5 - 14.5 MPH.  My house is said to be "medium-heavy" oil.  Does anyone think I'd be better off with one over the other?

I wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or not... Sorry VK... didn't mean to hijack your thread.  ;)

Velocity (one of my all time faves) is a bit smoother off the break point due to the particle in the shell. I have a Black Ops and it's cleaner and stronger at the break point than the Velocity was, same surface and drill pattern. I wish they would rerelease the Velocity in a modern day form.

I completely agree!!  I actually had all the Velocities - The original, Maximum, and Terminal.  haha.  Nothing was quite like the original AMF Velocity though.. at least for me.  So it sounds like the Black Ops would be the best option for something similar.
