Boost Solid
« on: December 15, 2016, 11:32:35 AM »
So, I've been toying with the idea about getting a weaker ball with surface lately and I'm wondering how the Boost Solid has worked out for those who have it. 900 Global is practically a myth around here so the only thing I have to go off of is from forums like this.

It's been stated before that the Boost series offers a good bit of strength for the price, does the solid continue that mantra? I'm kind of leery about balls like this being very touchy with oil, but at the same time it seems like the "low-end" stuff just keeps getting stronger. Any info would be much appreciated.

I am curious about this one, too. For the same reasons.  I have several 900 Global shells already, and had considered this as one of several options to get a lower end core/cover on the lanes. Other thoughts included the Storm and Roto offerings, both the reactive and urethane choices.

I haven't thrown a solid, but I would put my Boost a solid 2 steps above a urethane. I have a pearl and it goes forever then goes sideways. If you were to go with an earlier drill and more surface I'm sure you would have a great medium oil ball.

I bought the Candy Corn boost recently. Drilled it 60x5x75 (pin down in normal position for me). With surface, it isn't very squirty in oil. It gets to the spot and make a nice continuous arc.

The orange and yellow one? I hadn't realized that also used the S43 Solid cover, just coming out of the factory polished instead of sanded. Interesting. Gives me another color option and something else to search for on Youtube too. Thanks for the info. Not being squirty in oil is pretty relevant and what I'm looking for.

There's the solid black one and a black silver hybrid. Hybrid looks mean.

Yeah, I doubt there would be too much of a difference between the solids and hybrids at the same surface. But just to be safe...  :D

Here is what I know about the boost.  Solid Black is strongest of the line, the Red Cardinal is about 5 more boards off the spot and the black silver hybrid is softer down lane.  For the money you can't beat this performance.

Agreed. Best bang for your buck. No entry ball line will give you this much performance.

I havent drilled very many weak balls over the years but this is a must have in anyones bag   drilled my black boost 30 X 4.5 x 20  and hit it with a N pad and this balls just money in the bank.  have thrown it the last 3 weeks  no big sets yet but very continious roll with it and have had no game under 224 in the last 9 games  with 1 clean set  700  748  689   cant keep these balls on the shelf    Ive seen this ball out hook a No rules and a Dream big    My buddy couldnt beleive it himself  so I told him to throw his dream big and play the same line with the Black boost and he nailed the pocket  he now wants a couple of them  ;D
If you want it, go after it and make it happen.  If you don't, you have no one to blame but yourself....or maybe your just not throwing the right equipment  :)
