Looking for a New ball - Need Advice
« on: May 22, 2012, 09:09:44 PM »
So I was on this forum a time ago before the switch, I lost all my info so I can't give you PAP etc.

I have a Break S75 and also a Track Animal. Since it has been years since getting a new ball I need some advice.

I am thinking about a Train, I want a strong ball that will start to roll early and can still finish. I may also want a Pearl which can handle more of a medium type lane which would be long and strong.

I am a down and in type bowler so I am not trying to cover a ton of boards here.

Any advice you can give the better.

Thanks,
Adam

Train is a good ball.  My wife loves hers.  It is a strong Hybrid for Med-heavy oil.  Storm Modern Marvel has almost the same Specs.  I have a friend that loves his mission 250K.  Both bowlers are down and in bowlers.

The Train will work for what you are looking for.  As far as a pearl, the Nuts Pearl is a very good ball.  Goes long and snaps hard on the backend.  Of course with any ball, it depends on how you get it drilled.

On a side note, if you are not in a hurry to get anything, 900 Global's new arsenal should be revealed soon.

The train would be a great choice. You could also consider the bankroll.
Either could do what you want.

If you don't need the latest and greatest ball made, then the Profit is an awesome long and strong pearl. The AMF Shredder isn't a bad option either, but it won't handle as much oil as the Profit.

If you keep an eye on eBay, it should cost you about half of what the newest balls cost.

TheGame300,

Thanks for the input. I want the ball soon but I may wait to see what comes out. I dont really care about the price as I get a discount and I did want to stay with 900 Global.

Any suggestions about ball drilling?

Thanks,
Adam

Personally, I would go either Train or Bank Roll if you want early. I haven't drilled my Train yet, but I love the SRC weightblock in the Bank series. Seems like the Train is more continuous, but unless you're seeing a flood, you might want to take the cover to an A pad as opposed to the OOB E pad. E, it seems to me, just rolls too early with such a strong cover.

Another thought, even though it's AMF, the OMG solid is a heavy oil monster.

i would suggest for length on oil and then reaction suggest the dirty look but depends on what you bowl on if oil holds up by the gutter then dirty look if breaks down fast or not alot up front then something smoother like the sure thing pinned up and polished. but if needs something to really give you a move then the freight train would be the ball of choice have a tournament coming up in january that is 48 feet flat and mine is drill to roll early and have bowled in qualifier for the tourney and won a spot ball reads early if needed then again depends on layout mine was for these kinds of patterns have the others laid out for different types of patterns but still works well on THS.
If it is worth doing then do it right.
