My Dad has a Breakout that he loves more than any ball ever.  The problem is that it is all that he currently has.  It works great for him on med/heavy house shots and most sport shots.  But when he encounters short patterns or strong backends he can't control it.  My question is, he is looking to only add one more ball and wants to stay with 900 global, which ball would be the best step down for these ocassions and give him a similar look as the Breakout?  He is left handed a little rev dominant and likes to play 16 out to 5-8 on ths.  I'm thinking a Rip it, wisdom pearl, or hybrid hook??

King Cobra will be way to strong for shorter patterns unless you throw 20 mph. If you thought the Cobra S.E. would be to strong you will be very disappointed with this ball. Not by any means calling this a bad ball but it is alot stronger than advertised.  Example is the Sure Thing. This ball is extremely aggressive and much more ball than advertised. It out hooks almost every ball in 900 Globals line up.

Bowlingman really?.  YOU think the Sure Thing out hooks almost every ball 900GLOBAL has brought out?   WOW IM shocked to even read that   I guess it hooks a ton for you then but not everyone hooks this ball as much as you by the looks of it. I have yet to see it out hook many of the other balls 900 has put out in almost the last 7 years they have been making balls starting back in 9-4 of 07 with the Creature and 3-3-08 with the creature Pearl and the 72 other balls they have released in the U.S and over seas (  all great balls to throw still today    ) I think the Sure Thing is an OK ball  (it's just nothing I write home to Grandma about or be running out right now to get another 1 when I have so many other balls to pick from in the 900 Global's arsenal, older or newer balls ). I just don't see it happening!!  kudos to you then for making this 1 of the strongest hooking balls you've thrown in the 900 global line    theres just way to many stronger balls in the past or present to list, Ill even say the Mark Roth ball is 1 of them ( he has been missed by many )   Keep it up 900Global

Why not a Hook Pearl? When my Eagle line equipment starts hooking up early, I can use my Hook Hybrid, and jump right. My War Eagle is much stronger than my Hook Hybrid, drilled the same. The pearl would push it even further. If it's too jumpy, hit it with a 4000 pad.

I'd suggest that because he's an older guy who is rev dominant. The hooks have a lot of flare potential from their higher differential, as compared to the Wisdom. Of course if it were drilled with a low pin but a longer pin distance, like 5.5" pin to PAP, it could work as well as  Wisdom or similar ball, but most people (vs. those of us here who discuss such things and try alternatives) don't modify drillings and will drill most balls strong.

Don't forget that because it works for you doesn't mean it will work for him.

I still feel inclined to think that a Wisdom or a polished up King Cobra (if he loves this ball that much) are safer alternatives, as a drop down ball to the Breakout.

I'd bet a Sanded Hook would be almost as strong as his Breakout. and a sanded Wisdom would be weaker than a Sanded Hook (pearl or hybrid).
