Respect out hooking my Dream On
« on: March 22, 2015, 07:28:56 PM »
I am very happy with my switch to Global 900 so far. I am just a little surprised that my Respect is my starting ball and then I ball down to my Dream On. When i bought them I was thinking the complete opposite. Granted my Dream On has some lane shine but I didn't think the Respect would be my starting ball. When the Respect gets a little jumpy off the spot I can switch to the Dream On and get more control. Looking forward to bringing both balls to Nationals along with my IQ Tour 1000 grit and Fusion OOB. I am tempted to scuff up the Dream On like it was when I bought it new. These Global 900 balls are absolute house shot killers. I was just wondering if anybody has used them at Nationals and if so what surface adjustments did you make. Thanks

Your experience tells me what you are bowling on has a good amount of friction and the Dream On isn't storing energy as well as the Respect which is why you're getting the reactions you are

My thoughts exactly.  It has happened on a THS and a difficult sport shot pattern at a tournament . I keep thinking my Respect is a pearl but it is a hybrid, same as the Dream On. I am just surprised at how much it hooks. Might have to buy a Breakdown if this keeps up. Very little separation between the 2 balls. That is why I might scuff up the Dream On to give me more hook. I use clean and dull after every night of bowling but get a ton of lane shine on Dream On.

Respect has a stronger cover at S78 than the Dream On at S74. So that in itself will also be a huge reason why the Dream On is a step down from the Respect. I have my Dream On at a T pad (~4K) so that it is a good step down from the Respect or Moxie. I see the 2 or 3 if you add in a Break Down as a great 1-2-3 combination.

S79* Alert Hybrid on Respect.  It is a stronger shell than the Dream On.  A lane-shined Dream On will hook less overall and be smoother than a Respect.

thanks guys!!  I guess I had them in the wrong order.  I think I will keep the lane shine on my Dream On, maybe even add a little polish to distance it more from the Respect.  Not used to a shiny looking ball hooking so much. Ball is simply awesome. I keep thinking the Respect is a pearl because it sure looks like one.

my Respect does not out hook my Dream On,  not even close.  my respect is still out of box finish and as for my Dream On i took it to a N pad finish which helps make the ball much more perdictable for me on heavier oil and longer oil patterns over the Respect if theres not a ton of friction on the backend. the respect seems to want to go much longer for me on heavier oil or longer oil patterns because its trying to store its energy to long.   Both are great balls  for your THS or sport conditions and IM sure all of 900Globals newest releases will make a big slash at national this year as well.  Hard to beat the line they have out right now, Its that good  :)
If you want it, go after it and make it happen.  If you don't, you have no one to blame but yourself....or maybe your just not throwing the right equipment  :)

Fresh out of the box both balls are extremely strong. Respect is a lot more backend motion than the dream on though. Dream on will respond better in oil if at box finish. It sounds like the lane condition is where this is dictacted. Others have mentioned same but just figured I would give my 2 cents. Now that I have some games on both my dream on still performs better in heavier oil than the respect.
