Likes:Got my new Cobra SE tonight and it lives up to the hype! Like the ad says it has an entry angle you have to see to believe. With the retro "lightbulb" core and the new cover stock it has a beautiful hook and turns not snaps into the pocket. You have to see it to believe it. I had a ton of folks watching the movement and asking me about my drill layout (which is nothing special) then about the ball. This will probably be the first ball out of my bag on league nights and medium to medium heavy conditions. The Cobra is back and it's baaaad!

Dislikes:My wife says its not pretty lol

#15 Cobra SE
axis point 3 5/8"
tweener, 15mph
Lane Conditions - THS, Sport & Kegel Challenge
Lane Surface - Synthetic, AMF, Brunswick
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
What grit was the surface of the ball? 4000 Abralon
Likes: Lots on control, old school look,
Dislikes: Carrydown.

The Cobra SE is a SUPER throwback reaction wise.  Drilled mine up right over the label 5 x 5" no hole.  OOB the ball loped down the lane and had a super mild arc.  I forgot how much I liked light bulb cores!  It felt like 1990 all over again, move right roll it up 8 and watch it crawl back to the hole.  I was extremely impressed with the reaction letting me play parts of the lane on out THS I forgot about!  NO overreaction in the heads, no crazy flip on the back.  A shotmakers special.  Letting me have the strokers angle to the pocket opened up the lane for me a ton!  Carries excellent.  It's a must for tournaments.  When everyone is screaming for flashy hook this is a nice change of pace AND it performs.  Hats off to AMF!

The AMF Cobra is a special retro release that uses the original core with an aggressive F74 coverstock. I still have an original cobra so I couldn't wait to try the up dated version. The ball did not disappoint me at all, it was very smooth like a urethane but with the hit of a resin ball. I tried the ball on wet/dry, house and some short sport patterns and the ball performed up to my exceptions. This is a great utility ball and everyone should have one in their bag.

Likes:Thank you AMF for bringing back my favorite ball of all time! I like how you have put a strong F74 cover stock and wrapped it around the original core, which gives you a ball that can handle all the heavy oil up front on todays conditions, but yet with the old school core making the ball very controllable on the back of the pattern. And with a simple adjustment of the coverstock, where I took it up to 4000, totally allows me to say further right on the lane when my competition can't!! This ball has a purpose and everybody who bowls tournaments should have one in their bag. My ball is basically layed out with a 5x4 with a small hole on it. Once again if you are a competitive bowler and bowl a lot of tournaments, this one is a must have!

The Cobra Special Edition

Layout: (2) 40x 3 7/8x 60(box) and 35x 3 1/2x 25(polished)

Out of the gate I have to say I was super excited by this ball and its potential. The low Diff allowed me to very versatile in layouts. I haven't used layouts as aggressive as these in years. niether of these balls flare more than an inch for me. Those of you guys that used to like getting the pin out right(or out left for lefties) and haven't been able to do that this balls allows you to do it. In ball number 2 that I polished even with a layout so close to PAP this ball can open up a lane to right. Remember the days when adding polish to a ball used to increase backend? Here it is.

On House shots I prefer to use the box finish. It smoothens what often turns into wet/dry for me. As the track area fries out I keep the ball tight in the oil playing a straighter line and gives me a look no one else has. Its also smooth enough to allow me to play right without overreaction off of the dry.

On Sport as long as you aren't on heavy patterns this is your money ball. Carrying both of these to bowl on a sport pattern is a no brainer for me. The Cobra SE has length even with layouts that should want to pick up. The end of the pattern can dictate which of the two I will use. If its heavier or spotty I use the box finish, if its starting to burn in that area I use the polished one and can bounce it from that area.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
