ThomasR....Pure vs Incinerate
« on: January 24, 2015, 04:02:05 PM »
Please note this is not meant in any mean fashion...just a question.

I am looking at the Pure and am considering purchasing one. However, it looks very similar to the Incinerate that just came out 1 1/2 years ago. Both are F90, both solids, both with nEat 1500 finish. Yep, core is different. Does the core in the Pure make the Pure that much of a better ball than the Incinerate to warrant me to either A) Dump the Incinerate or B) add the Pure to an arsenal with the Incinerate?

Sell me one with your answer......

While the Combustion core does have a 2.51 RG vs. the Incinerate's 2.48, you probably don't think that makes that much of a difference.  When considering just how strong the shell is though, you have to consider that increases/decreases in core numbers will yield greater changes in reaction because of the potential the cover has to offer.  It's also hard to explain exactly how the RG contour planes and core shape can effect motion (despite similar numbers).  Our goal with the Pure was to provide a similar amount of hook as the Incinerate while attempting to provide more continuation downlane.  That's the biggest issue with strong cover, low surface high Diff balls.  I personally felt the Pure met that performance target, and I'm not the only one.  The BTM tester I spoke with texted me after throwing his to let me know how much better he felt this ball was with more continuation than the Incinerate.

ThomasR...

Good information. I do understand the contour of the shapes and so forth as Del Warren is one of my better friends. One more question. I notice you referenced the Pure's 2.51 RG, but I throw 16# which your chart indicates the Pure has a 2.49 RG. What did the Incinerate have for a RG in 16#? Are they still as much or more different than the 15# numbers?

I am super excited about this ball. I was amazed at how continuous both videos had the ball motion. The bowlersmart video was extreme.

I do have to say one thing... If you've never thrown a Train, you owe it to yourself to get this. The Train core has a very unique hit to it. Mine didn't do anything flashy, but hit a TON.

Get one. You'll see the difference between it and the Incinerate.

Doom...

I used nothing but Track products for years and had about every Nighthawk prior to moving to Track. Loved the stuff. But after Ebo purchased Columbia and Global opened....I have not had anything produced from the 900 plant...nor anything from the Ebo plant with the Track name. Some was because I am good friends with the Warrens and feel like Del got a bum deal when he left Columbia/Track/etc...but thats a personal opinion, nothing more, so I sort of shied away from anything to do with the old Columbia team, etc.

However, the Pure has me VERY interested......

The way the ball goes thru the pins is.. Unreal. I have a Darkness, which may be the exact same weight block as the Incinerate, and although its great, the Train weight block is... Different. I'd say try one.

Also, the color makes a difference in motion.

tkk.

I have heard (and seen) that before, but, with everything else equal, would that be enough to warrant carrying two balls versus one based upon the different color the motion will give you in the ball reaction? Is there really that much overall difference to warrant spending $200+ on another ball?

3835,

The short answer, no.

Unless you have two balls that you know have the same core and cover and the only difference is the color, you won't know what is making the difference in the ball reaction.  And remember, just because something is called the same, doesn't mean it exactly is.  1 or 2% of this or that will also change reaction.

This new Pure is great.  I had to hit the surface with a wet 4000 pad, but once I did the ball came to life for me on a 42 foot THS.  We have pretty decent amount of oil in the middle and use the new brunswick Defy.  Even with this surface the ball picks up in the midlane and just continues through the pins.....

can you compare to the Decimate? I hope to have mine today. I'm bowling on the 2014 Masters pattern this weekend. I am hoping this comes to good use.
