Anyone wearing Etonics/looking at the new VHA etonics?
« on: July 17, 2007, 04:17:16 AM »
I have liked the look of the etonics since they came out, the sole & heel look to be realy wide & stable, the only reason i havent bought any as of yet is the lack of heel options, its just a single heel.

If i remember correctly, 1 of the ladies in my pro shop used to be on the etonic staff(i think storm quit using etonic for dexter again....or something strange).  She said the new etonics were going to have an adjustable heel, but its still only 1 heel.  Somethign along the lines of a rotating heel that gives u 4 different feels & slide amounts.

I hadnt heard anything about any new etonics coming out, so i figured she was rong.

Then last night i checked out www.bowling.com under the shoes section.  The new Etonic Stabilite Plus VHA's are coming soon.  They look pretty nice, nice & wide like the others.  The difference is the VHA(variable heel something).  If these come out with a heel variant, i will definitely be buying the copper ones.

Anyone else have etonics that they like?

Right now my choice is between these etonics & some tour ultras, but the narrowness of the ultras, plus the extra cost is pushing me towards the etonics.

They had a demo of them at tour trials, and I thought they looked awesome.

im very interested in these shoes also.  i have tried to get in to touch with etonic through email but no response.  dexter is upsetting me with there quality the last year or so.  had to ship my sst6's back 3 times in 9 months and they are tore up again. i went back to my sst 5's till the new etonic's are out.  time for a change i think.

I actually just got off the phone with Ryan at Etonic.  According to him, these r still a couple months off.  At this point the shoes r still in the R&D phase, theyre trying to make sure all of the kinks r out of the shoes b4 getting them on the market.

From what Ryan said, this is going to be the first "fine tune" heel system.  Its a turn & crank style heel, its completely fixed to the shoe, but the front part of the heel has 3 different rubbers to choose from.  Its on a "wheel" so to speak & if u crank it 1 way, u get more of the rubber that slides more, & if u crank it the other way, u get more of the rubber that sticks a little more.

Couple this fine tune heel with the fact that theyre giving 5 different slide soles, & these seem to be the most versatile shoes ever produced.

Until i actually get a pair on my feet, this is all the info i ahve, & as far as i know, all of the info that is available.

They have been tested and tested and tested for about the past year. These are going to be the best shoes ever.

How can these still be in R&D phase if they put them on the cover of their catalog? Does not make good sense to me.

Fine tuning, also they have to make a stock pile of them in every sign first. with there other models coming out, they just can't get them all ready at the sametime.

I bought the Etonic Stabilite Plus in wide width. The shoes are awesome. They took some geting use to since I've been using mid to low end shoes but there is no going back. I love the fit, comfort, looks and performance. For me I don't slide as much as I do plant so the heel isn't much of a concern. I highly recommend these shoes to anyone especially if you need a wide width.

Thanks

I've been using the Etonic Plus Stabilites for almost 2 years (it immediately cured a case of Plantar Fascitis) and they are the best shoes I've ever worn.   Comfortable, stable and extremely durable.  A much better shoe than Dexter.

I recently attended a trade show and spoke with the Etonic rep.  The new adjustable heel will be out around November I was told.  He described the new heel and it's an ingenious system  Basically the heel will be slightly concaved with 3 different zones.  You adjust the contour of the heel to adjust which part of the heel is touching.   The adjustments are like a ratchet system so it's easy to control the number of "clicks".  It allows for a much finer grain of tuning.  They also have a better foam insert and the tongue is a mesh material to allow for breathing.  Great looking shoe also.

I can't wait for them to come out.

Probably the best idea since velcro soles and heals. I am holding out to get a pair of these for myself. Bowling on Brunswick anvil in two centres, one centre is wood and one is old amf hpl it's never the same.

Well, I don't know about the new stuff, but I have a pair of their mid-price point shoes (Stabilite Mens Action) and I can say that they've had a couple hundred games on them and they (just about) react like they did when they were new.  They're as comfortable as my normal walking shoe.

And they do already have shoes that are adjustable heel/toe combos... http://www.bowling.com/productsbycategoryandmfg.asp?CatID=18&MfgID=32&CategoryName=Adjustable%2Dsole+Shoes&MfgName=Etonic

I bought the Stabilite Plus, they are a very firm shoe, but comfortable.
But what I like most is how they feel in the approach. I have control of my slide.
