I have a pair of Dynorooz Tour Ultras, they're very comfy.  The only Dexters I've had were a cheap pair of low-end shoes.  Never had any of the SST line.  I don't think you can go wrong with the Dynos.

I had Dexters about 10 years ago.  If the current ones are like those then go w/ Dynos.  My new Dynos are  lighter and more comfortable than my old Dexters ever thought of being.  Plus, they look better.

I've owned the Dexter SST6's, the Rooz Tour Ultras, and now own the Etonic Stabilites.

The Tours are the most comfortable and the lightest, although the Etonics are pretty comfy as well, and have better ankle and foot support.  The Tours are high quality but have worn faster for me than my Dexters did, the rubber on the non sliding sole has torn, and the inside of the shoes shows wear.

The Dexters are older models, SST6 Burgandys, are very durable, in my experience, and have a wider slide sole which enhances stability at the foul line.  The Tours are thinner, intentionally, I think, so the user can slide more.  But for me, the Dexters slide better than the Ultras, and when you put the heel down, you stop better as well.

The Etonics are even more stable than the Dexters, but have more of a raised heel than the Dexter or the Tour Ultra, so you must be very conscious of going into the last step toe first.  When you put your heel down, rest assured, you will stop.  They are very well made, although I haven't had them long enough to ascertain the long-term reliability.

The benefits of each might work better depending on your style.  If you like to slide quite a bit, the Tours are nice.  If you want a little more control, the Dexters and Etonics are better IMHO.

Hope that helps!

I have both the Dynorooz Tour Ultras and the Dexter LX's.  For me, the Tour Ultras are much better.  I have more sliding options and can control my slide better.  The Tour Ultras are also much more comfortable.

i had the SST 6's, and i had a pair of rooz before that. switched back to rooz after the right toe on the sst 6's got tore up after about a month. in my opinion, they're both very comfortable shoes, but dynorooz are a lot better investment. i have reasons:

    1. Problem: Replaceable sole on the Dexters always wanted to fold down, wouldn't stick to the velcro after just a few weeks
Solution: Dynorooz has the outside edge of the sliding foot sewn on, the sole goes inside that, it will never fold and lose it's "stick"
    2.  Problem: Hard to line up heels on the dexters to make them perfect (and if you're like me, it's a bigger deal than it sounds)
Solution: Rubber triangle on the rooz is permanently fixed on the heel of the shoe, the replaceable heels all have a triangle hole in them, if it's on...it's lined up perfect!
    3.  Problem: toe on the right foot of the dexters got tore up REALLY fast for me.
Solution: rooz have a replaceable toe cap!

it's a pretty obvious choice if you ask me, but like i said, if you're going only for comfort, they're equal. if you want to buy a new pair next year, go with dexters, if you want durability...rooz all the way!

I just blew out the heel of my old Dexters.  They lasted me about 5 years.  I just picked up a pair of Dynorooz Shufflers.  Most comfortable bowling shoes I've worn.

The plant sole of the Tour Ultra's is very tacky, which most people like ... unless you shuffle your feet.  The Shufflers have a smoother plant foot sole which will let you shuffle to the line, if that's what you do.

PS Nice screen name. I guess the crown trumps me.

Dynorooz tour ultras.  Best shoe on the market. Comfortable and reliable.

Dynoroos are the best, get them while you can. After the Ebonite buyout of Columbia, they aren't going to be made anymore.

Absolutely incorrect. They will be sold under the 300 Global name. Same shoes, style, quality etc. Nothing will change except the logos. Ebonite did not purchase any shoes what so ever.

My proshop guy said that Roozs has one year from the purchase date then they must stop selling the shoes in US.  I don't how my proshop guy got this info but he seems to be convinced about that fact being true.

I believe I heard that somewhere as well.  That just means that the shoes that say "Dynorooz" on the side can't be sold in the US, not that the designs or models can't be used anymore.  The ABS thing was similar: you could wear the exact same Tour Ultras in PBA competition if they said "Dynorooz" on the side but couldn't if they said "ABS".  You'll be able to get the same shoe but with "300 Global" on the side instead.
