Genesis tape
« on: February 03, 2018, 11:21:46 PM »
Do any of you use the genesis sync tape or any of their protection tape? If so what do you think of them? Have not been happy with the “new” bowlers tape or the storm stuff, saw this out there and figured I’d ask before I bought. Thanks.

Very happy with the HADA blue and red thump strips.  They've protected my thumb since getting back to balling so I'll vouch for them.  Depending on the weather I usually just use the blue, but sometimes it's red to start then tape down to the blue.

Genesis tape is good---stays in place and does not roll up. Genesis tape has a variety of thickness which help me get a snug thumb fit. I recommend their tape.

Genesis has really improved their products.  When they first came out I picked up a sample pack and disliked the amount of adhesive residue it would leave when removing it.  I recently picked up a pack of red tape to use on my finger,  and it leaves virtually no residue but stays firmly in place for several games.  I like Genesis much better than Vise Hada these days.

I switched from Hada to Genesis #4. I use it on the back of my thumb and like it a lot, enough to displace the Hada, but if you use multiple pieces, it really doesn't stick as well as I had hoped. I can't get a full 3 games out of it on some nights. Still, I'm using it a bit unconventionally and as long as it keeps working (avg up 10 this year), I'll keep buying it. Genesis #1 is WAY too thin IMHO, and #2 isn't much better, but #3 and #4 are pretty decent for what I need.

To make tape adhere better to skin, try Compound Tincture Benzoin.

From Wikipedia:

Compound Tincture of Benzoin (CTB) is often applied to skin before applying tape or other adhesive bandages. To some degree, it protects the skin from allergy to the adhesive in the tape or bandage, but mostly it makes the tape or bandages adhere much longer.

Wouldn't you know it. Amazon is out of this product and doesn't know when it might be replenished if @ all. thanks for the info though. Next time in a drug store will look for it.

You can order the bottle and use q-tips to apply it.  That's actually the way I use it.  Store everything in zip lock bags.

The packaged swabsticks are nice but more expensive.

I love the Motiv-branded tape made by Genesis, specifically the black #1 quick release version. For comparison, I ordered the Genesis-branded #1 and #2 tapes and they were too fast and too slow for me, respectively. That Motiv #1 seems to be right in between the Genesis #1 and #2.
I have tried several Vise tapes and I really liked the quick Blue tape, but I like the Genesis/Motiv a little better. The Turbo black tape is also very fast but too thin and flimsy for my tastes. The Nichiban Hada beige tape is very good but a tad slower than I like. I've also tried Storm and Brunswick blue tapes but they are too thick and slow for me, plus they don't seem as form-fitting to me.

Along my line of thinking too. Thanks for the comeback. Next time ordering from Amazon, will keep this in mind for sure.
