New Linds Bowling Shoes?
« on: November 06, 2013, 06:19:57 PM »
I noticed that Linds has a new shoe out with the puck system, the CPV.  Has anyone tried a pair or know someone who has?   Also, any idea where their shoes are being made now and what the quality is like?

Thanks.

The "made with US leather" makes me think that they aren't being made overseas or in the US...  If they are still being made in Mexico, or being made in Mexico again, I wouldn't expect the quality to touch the American made Linds from more than a decade ago.

BUT... the above is mostly speculation.

Just my $0.02 :P

I agree.  If they were being made in the USA, they would probably say Made In USA rather than Made With US Leather.  I am hoping that they fixed their QC problems wherever they are being made.

I have been using the exxxta 2's with the CPV cleats for the last couple of seasons to replace the last set of Dexter's I had.

They are no longer made in North America, manufactured in China just like Dexter and 3G.  The Chinese shoes are much better quality than the Mexican shoes.  My customers seem to agree.

I get a longer slide out of the stock set up (buckskin with rubber heel) than I did with the H7/S10 set-up I had on my SST5's.  The cleats work well for me if I need to tune from there.

I have a pair of the Exxxtra's with the VHS puck/cleat system.  Not sure what the CPV cleat is.  The CPV that I was referencing is supposed to be a new pair of shoes similar to the Exxxtra that uses the VHS puck/cleat and that is the shoe that I was questioning the quality of.

Thanks for the info on the Linds being made in China.

BTW, are you the same poster that years ago was known here as King Of The Mill (KOTM)?  I think I met that person at the proshop he worked at inside a bowling center on Fenkell years ago.

The CPV & exxxtra 2's use the VHS II cleat system with a larger cleat at the back of the sliding sole.  I could not remember the name of the cleats in my last post.  The CPV soles are also wider at the base than the "classic" style shoes... similar to a dexter sst 6.  Nice shoe overall, especially if your foot is a little on the wide width side.

Ahhhh, king of the mill (no capitals, please), a nickname once bestowed upon a lowly ball driller ages ago by an innocent customer.  What a coincidence that we share the same initials, eh? :o

One sign of an old Detroiter... calling 5 mile Fenkell even after it stretches west of Telegraph  ;)

How is that spare ball treating you?

(It was a spare ball, wasn't it... they say the third thing to go is memory... for the life of me I cannot remember the first two things though...  :D )

kotm,

You have an excellent memory, much better than mine I think.  It was a spare ball, a Storm, possibly the clear Soccer one.  I thought you had more posts than that so I was not sure it was you under this username.

As far as Fenkell, I grew up on Fenkell near Dexter and the first two bowling centers I bowled youth leagues at were just off of Fenkell.  The Ritz was just north on Wyoming, I think, and then after the Ritz burned down, I bowled at Ambassador Lanes which was at Fenkell and Schaeffer?  Not sure of the streets as I was not driving then, either walking or taking a bus.

Again, thanks for the info on the CPV shoe.  It sounds like something I will have to keep in mind when I need to replace my shoes as I do have wider feet.
