I went from inserts to no inserts a few years ago...
I checked it out several times on our CATS lane and there was no difference in the revs.

It does feel different but you get use to it and I love it now

Why do people keep trying to compare Lane #1 to other equipment.....when there really is no comparison

it takes a good week of bowling to get used to it and gain revs back. when i started with it i felt like i couldnt get rotation of revs. but now after using it for half a season I have more revs then before the change.

I will never go back to grips. I had problems with swelling but not since going to no grips.

My fingers kill me with no grips.  I thought about going with no grips again since they have all that stuff to put on your fingers like Wes but then I would have to re-drill all my stuff and that is just to much money

My ring finger hole is a milled oval and my middle finger hole is a vacu-grip.  I was using milled ovals for both until I sprained my middle finger while bowling over a month ago.

I don't think I've lost anything in regards to speed or revs and liked to keep the bevels sharp on my fingers.  In fact... I recently increased my axis tilt.  I'm not sure if it's the vacu-grip and slightly shorter middle finger span, or if it's the fact that I'm still putting tape around the 2nd bone in my middle finger.

I have been down this path and still going down it lol. this time i want to go back to no inserts, only thumb slug.

do you have any undrilled new balls/ retired/old that you could get plugged to "test the waters" and see if you like the feeling.

You don't lose revs, period ....

IT MAY FEEL LIKE YOU DO....but you don't.

Have your driller do custom fingers for you, and you'll never go back!!

I love it!

I tried it back in 1999...ten years ago and never looked back. Once I started seeing people using this and 75% of the PBA was using it I tried it and I couldn't get used to it at first but after awhile I loved it.

Once you get a ball drilled finger tip drilled correctly, you won't look back. Every ball will feel the same and will prevent you from squeezing having a cleaner release potentially. Also, the cost savings saves itself. If you keep a ball for a few years and bowl a lot your going to have to replace the grips. Also, the cost of not buying grips on your new ball saves you money. Plus, you don't have to worry about cracking around the fingers and bridge which grips are notorious for. I ask people why they still use grips as they ask why I don't. After I tell me reasons and sell them on mine, they may try it.

Also, if you try it on a ball you can usually go back to getting the holes enlarged for grips if you really don't like it. It really takes awhile to get used to but really love it and will never use grips again. I only used them in the first place because pro shops recommended it.

I think I'm going back to grips as well.  I've gone back and forth a few times but now it's become a physical issue.  My ring finger is start to get splits around the middle of the joint and it's extremely painful at times and takes a good 3-5 days to heal when it splits open. I don't like to take time off from my practice sessions which means it often stays chronically split open.  If I only bowled 15-20 games a week it's not really an issue, but when bowling 80 to 150 games a week  it's really taking it's toll.  The next ball I'm getting no inserts and just have to get used to it again.. Next step will be to plug 20 balls and get rid of the inserts..

I went to no grips a week ago.
It took 1 game to get used to it. I'd never go back, I never realized how much I lifted.
Now that I don't lift I have more balance and even think I've created more revs.

Went away from inserts in 2002 and haven't looked back. All my equipment feels more consistant, and I didn't lose any revs on the ball. Just seems to fit in your hand better without them. Drill them a little large, bevel and sand the edges a litttle and then add tape to the back side as need for weather changes and it's perfect.
