Secret Sauce or Snake Oil??

I'm getting ready to invest in a spinner and would like to try one of these polishers but wanted to ask some of bowlers here which one they prefer? I've tried many other polishes (mostly with abrasive) in the past and some did the job better than others. Just don't like the powder-like mess that some of these leave when I polish by hand.

I dont see how you could go wrong with either one, its really just personal prefernce

im not a fan of secret sauce or really any polishes with grit when it comes to repeating a finish, HOWEVER when it comes to polishing by hand there doesnt seem to be anything easier that i have tried. i dont remember there being a powdery residue as secret sauce has VERY fine abrasives in it.

as far as gritless polishs go i prefer ebonites FF and snake oil. most gritless polishes work really well and just about the same.

but the truth is its all a personal preference, i wouldnt go crazy about it. once you find what you like, you most likely wont need anything else, especially seeing as there are so many choices when it comes to abrasives.

I have used both Snake Oil and Secret Sauce. I have found that when the surfaces of the balls are prepared identically the Sauce gets a higher gloss and more length.

I can say that I buy the Sauce 4 oz at a time because it takes me about 2-3 months to go thru the 4 oz bottle.

You really cannot go wrong with either.

I think you'll find that, if you get one at first, eventually you'll get the other. With a spinner you will usually want a several different polishes to serve different purposes.

As icewall said, there are one with grit in them (like Secret Sauce) which will make your prepared surface smoother and there are ones with no grit in them (like Snake Oil) which will retain the underlying grit level.

For the reasons already listed, I prefer the Snake Oil.

Having said that, you'll like the Secret Sauce as long as you have SOME surface underneath. Try 800 or 1000 grit, then add the Sauce for very good results.

I agree with what has been said....if you want a "touch up polish" then Snake Oil is probably a better choice.

However, if you are looking for a polish to use to get a super smooth glossy finish that gets down the lane like no other polish then the Sauce is for you.

Have to agree with the majority and say "both".  They're not the same and the differences can come in handy.  I use Snake Oil on balls that are already polished to get a little more length...I use Secret Sauce when I want a little less hook than I typically get with Ebonite Factory Finish.

The Secret Sauce is also the best polish out there if you are trying to polish up the "NEW" Urethane balls that are out..

To answer, if you want more length use Sauce.  Snake Oil is not an extender.

What I have found is that if you don't want to alter the surface of the ball but rather just put the polish back on it, Snake Oil is the best bet.

It is my experience that putting Sauce over the top if pre-existing polish adds a few feet to the ball's trajectory before it starts up. I don't have this problem with SNake OIl.

I will agree with Beans on his assessment of Sauce on urethane....I have been reworking a lot of the older stuff lately for locals and The Sauce does a way better job of polishing up the urethane balls than anything else I have ever used.

i got very good length out of my snake oil when i used it on my mission. i have both of these. i tried the sercet sauce once and haven't touched it since. snake oil is the only polish i will use!
