Elbow Support
« on: February 26, 2007, 04:51:09 AM »
I've been experiencing some elbow/upper forearm soreness over the last couple of months, and I'm thinking of picking up a elbow/forearm support.  Do they help?  If so, what should I be looking to get, and can I expect any differences when I throw the ball?

Thanks

I started using an elbow support a few years ago after experiencing elbow pain.  The pain went away.  I still use the support.

There is no difference in how you throw the ball.

I agree with CPA.  I bowled a tourne about 5 years ago, it was about 8 games.  The next day I couldn't strighten myelbow outand ithurt like heck.  I started useing an elbow support and I have felt that pain again.  I just got one of the Ebonite magfoce ones (not sure of the name) but it is comfy as heck.

Thanks for the advice, so far.  I didn't really want to order anything over the internet, because I wanted it sooner, so I went out and found a McDavid Tennis Elbow Strap.  It's basically the same as any bowling specific device, and it was only $9.  I'm going to try it out tonight.  Any additional input or recommendations would still be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just an update.   Bowled with the elbow strap (not that it really had any sort of impact on my bowling) and shot a career best 675 tonight.  I was subbing in a league that bowls right after another finishes.  But, for a guy with a 176 average, I'm completely ecstatic with the results.  Plus, the elbow feels pretty good, although there is still a bit of a twinge every now and then.
