If it's a dark purple, then it's an old school urethane.  Good ball in its time.  Would still work well for heavy handed or low ball speed wanting to play more a more direct line.

There was a Blue Nitro and a Purple Nitro.  Then there was the Nitro R2 (R Squared), Nitro R2 Pearl and a Nitro/R.

Which one are you asking about?

The Blue and Purple were urethane and the others were reactive.

I wish they would do a classic tournament. I'd love to light some people up with a Black Knight, Nitro, or Nitro R2.

It was an aggressive (for the day) pure urethane with a bulb shaped weightblock. Manufacturers were still experimenting with two piece technology, so the core dynamics aren't strong at all by todays standards.

Now, the purple one was called the Nitro purple haze and was not as aggressive as the dark blue one.

The other ones mentioned were all reactive resin. The Nitro/R was lime green with the same weightblock as the urethane models. The Nitro/R2 and pearl were light purple with an early version of the V2 core.
