Thoughts on this ball is WOW! This might be Brunswicks best heavy oil ball in a long time if not ever. Usually with strong Brunswick Asymetrics when I miss right due to lower axis rotation, hte ball rolls out. This one does not do any such thing, it actually crossed over. The ball seems to be the best of both worlds, it doesn't go through the breakpoint in the oil, and doesn't give up any backend reaction. I measured the flare on the ball at 6 1/2 inches with the layout I used, I can only imagine what I would see with a stronger layout. It is probalby a good idea to keep this ball clean and visit the revivor oven once in a while as it does pick up quite a bit of oil, but tht is why it hooks so much. 16lbs, 3-4 pin, 3.8 top weight.
Drilled the solid 60x6x40. The pin ended up being above my middle finger with the cg kicked out a little with no hole needed. Let me start off by saying that this ball is the most hooking Brunswick ball I've ever thrown. It's gets through the heads so clean for a high end ball and has one of the best midland control I've ever seen. The thing that is most impressive about this ball is that with how strong it is, it doesn't lose anything in the backend. It's so continuous compared to other high end balls that lose a little pop when the lanes break down. Brunswick definitely did something right with this one.

Dislikes: Needs a lot of oil, not for drier conditions The Nexus Solid is the strongest ball I have ever thrown or seen go down a lane period! This ball eats oil for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any other time for that matter. It has a jaw dropping amount of recovery and draws attention from bowlers all around where I bowl. As of the time of this review, I have yet to find an out of bounds it wont come back from on a house shot. It is like that bunny that sells batteries on television, it just keeps coming and coming and coming back! The Nexus solid also gets stronger and maintains hitting power as the lane breaks down and changes unlike other oil balls in the past. The coverstock additive gets the ball to maintain more axis rotation giving you greater entry angle and thus improving carry. I have sent more messengers with the Nexus solid than any ball I have ever owned. I have had nights so far with this ball where if it went right of third arrow it was a strike. This ball will allow the average person to open their angles up and still strike in a way they previously haven't been able to. On a tight house condition, I got off to a rough start to the night because I couldn't get the ball back, I went and picked up the Nexus solid and shot 588 for two ending in an 800 series. No other ball could have gotten around the corner the way the Nexus Solid did. The special continuous ball motion is going to make the Nexus Solid a big winner amongst all bowlers looking for more recovery and more area. If you are looking for the strongest ball motion on the market and great hitting power pick up a Nexus before you get beat by one!

Reaction: Layout (1) has turned into my go to ball. On a house shot this ball blends the wet to dry very well allowing me to play in the heavier middles without fear of over reaction when I leak it out to the dry. The carry is phenomenal and I have yet to see this ball stand up to quick and burn out. On the longer Team USA pattern the polished version of this ball was not quite enough for the fresh but looked great on the breakdown. On the Atlanta pattern this ball is too strong. While it is clean enough through the fronts it forces me in too deep. The carry is still good from the angle but the Nexus f(P) is a better option.
Layout (2) needs oil. The ball will clear the heads well no matter what the pattern is but with the factory finish and an aggressive layout this ball needs oil. On the fresh London pattern this ball looked great. It opened up the lane without sacrificing carry.
Overall: This ball is strong. I have thrown the competitions hooking equipment and this one is just better. It is cleaner through the fronts, picks up better in the mid-lane and is every bit as strong at the breakpoint.

COMMENTS Likes: Okay, so this ball is as described. It is a hook monster. It is allowing me to play the lanes with a little more swing than I can usually play on our house shot. Getting it out to anywhere between 8-5 at the breakpoint is usually washout or 2-8-10 territory due to a hang spot. This ball just seems to ignore that spot and come back and finish strong. It clears the heads with ease. The midlane read is great, I have yet to see it overreact in the midlane like I was getting for awhile with the Lethal Revolver. The backend reminds me of the alpha-max but just stronger overall due to the fact it is getting through the heads much cleaner. One of the best things about the ball is that it is keeping the pins low, increasing the carry percentage. I can see why Sean Rash is doing so well with the balls!
Dislikes: I only have one dislike and that is that it seems to carry the oil down just a little bit but that could just be the oil and the house I bowl at. If thats the case, I would just switch to the pearl when I get it or the ulti-max to have it react a little better.

LANE CONDITION Volume: med-hi Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Likes: Drilled 30 x 5 x 70 Surface prep is OOB with a slight polish. Reads 4750 on Jayhawk Ball Surface Scanner after the slight polish. This ball reads the lane better than any ball I have ever thrown. I picks up well in the midlane and gets into a heavy roll at the pins. The continuation I get out of this ball is amazing. If I miss outside, it just keeps on trucking back to the pocket. With the ball always getting into a good roll at the pins, the pin carry has been very good. Dislikes: This ball is very strong and I have to put it away after about a game to a game and a half. It reads too early when the lanes start to dry out. Good thing Brunswick made a Nexus Pearl for when this ball is too much.

Likes: I haven't been able to roll a solid with surface as far back as I can remember and i rolled this ball all night long and it gave me a Boise. I have two Nano's and they dont clear the fronts and I never get a chance to use them. this Brunswick ball is Totally OFF the Charts. There is not a bll out therre on the market that rolls as hard as clean through the front and has the ball motion and Heavy roll as this ball does. I haven't used a Brunswick ball in 17 years and I am telling you that you need both the SOLID and the earl Nexus in your bag and i bet that all of your other balls stay in the bag. They are amazing, just look at how many bowlers in the WSB made the top 16 using Brunswick. CRZY GOOD!

What is there not to say about this ball. It is an extremely different motion Brunswick has had in the past. I was skeptical that this would not be as clean as it actually is through the front part of the lane. This is one of if not the strongest ball I have ever thrown. It is very clean through the fronts and a sharp breakpoint downlane. The Nexus really stores axis rotation very well on its own. I love the last releases(Ulti, Lethal and Massive) but haven't thrown them since I drilled the Nexus. I can't seem to put them down. Yes their that good. I drilled mine 85x5.5x30 and 70x5.125x70. 85x5.5x30- this one I wanted to be on the weaker side, and its still strong. After throwing it for a few games I came to a surface of 500 with Rough Buff on top. This seems to work best for me so far. This layout provides me with clean through the fronts with a strong move off the spot and great continuation through the pins. Compared to an Alpha drilled 65x4.5x25. The Nexus is 2-3 boards more with all of it being downlane. 70x5.125x70- I wanted this one to be smoother off the friction. That is what I got. This ball still clears the fronts effortlessly but just a slower response to the friction. I found the best surface for me with this one is 500 with polish on top. This ball really surprise's me, I am able to get in with this ball and still get the 10 out. Compared to an Alpha drilled 45x5x70, the Nexus is about 4 boards stronger and all downlane as well. These balls are simply amazing. believe the hype. This is different motion than Brunswick has ever had.

Ball: Brunswick Nexus f(P+F) (or “Nexus Solid”) Layout: Pin 5” from PAP above fingers 60-degree locator line angle (Dual-angle: 60 by 5” by 30) Initial Surface Preparation: Box finish Purpose: To give me a more angular option for heavier medium conditions, to complement the C-(System) alpha-max and Lethal Revolver. The Lethal Revolver is very effective on conditions where I need front-to-back roll, and while the alpha-max has a stronger change of direction, there does come a point beyond which I cannot move further left and still have the ball recover enough to carry corners consistently. Observations: The Nexus Solid that I drilled had a 3 1/8” pin-to-CG distance, and thus I was able to use a layout with the pin 5” from my PAP, above the fingers, and a 60-degree locator line angle. The first chance I had to use the Solid was on a fresh house condition at a center with a fairly new SPL lane surface. There has been quite a bit of friction at this center so far this season, and thus I didn’t think this would be a good test for a ball as strong as the Nexus Solid. I did throw a few shots with it in practice, but I had to start from in front of the ball return because of how hard of a look I was getting off the dry. I put the Solid away, but when the fronts started to go, and the condition became choppy, I decided to give it a try. Even on this transitioning condition, the Nexus was very clean through the front, especially for a ball with a 500/1500 box finish. I was pleasantly surprised at how the ball didn’t completely burn up when it did get to the dry. The Solid managed to retain enough energy to make a defined move and have a strong look through the pins. There were a few shots that I threw where I could have sworn the ball was going to die at the turn, only to see it make a sharp move to the pocket and slap out the 10. I’ve thrown the Solid a few times on conditions with more volume, notably at a local center with Pro Anvilanes. On these conditions, the Solid reacted well as long as I was able to get it all the way to the friction. If the ball stayed in the oil too long, it wouldn’t quite make the turn in back, and I’d leave a corner. Also, on the fresh, I often found myself having to make frequent moves because of how quickly the Solid broke the condition down. I had more success after the condition began to blend, and I could get my feet further to the left and let the ball recover from the dry. Conclusions: The Nexus Solid gives me a reaction that I haven’t had in the bag in a very long time. Even with the dull box finish, the Solid doesn’t show the slightest tendency to check in front. This allows me to keep the ball on a line to the dry, where its recoverability takes over. I’ve found that I’ve been able to give up quite a bit of the pocket without having to worry about whether the Solid would get back to the pocket, or whether it would kick out corners once it made the turn. For bowlers seeking a ball that will get into an earlier roll on front-to-back oil, the Nexus Solid probably isn’t the best choice; the C-(System) alpha-max or Lethal Revolver would handle this condition better. Despite the dull box finish, the Solid needs friction to be successful. However, for those conditions that are more blended, or that have a defined area of friction to the outside, the Nexus Solid gives the bowler an option for moving to the inside and sending the ball to the dry with confidence that it will recover. Purpose:
Well the Nexus Solid is supposed to be the most hooking ball in the history of Brunswick. Naturally, I drilled this ball to fill the “big gun” spot in my bag for when I see a lot of length or a lot of volume but definitely when I see a combination of both. I also wanted to make sure that the layout would give me the most versatility in that it would still hook a lot yet still get downlane in a shape that I like. Thus, I went with my favorite asymmetrical layout of 50 by 5 by 45 that has always given me a great read throughout the entire lane no matter what ball the layout is on.
On the lanes:
39ft THS on Pro-Anvil:
I was hesitant to even try and throw the Nexus Solid on this shot since it’s only 39 feet with not a lot of volume. Surprisingly though the Nexus really does live up to expectations in that it gets down the lane better than any other dull “strong” ball I’ve ever seen. The fact that I didn’t have to loft the gutter cap from the start is testament to that. I was able get a really nice reaction out of the solid by laying the ball down around 30 out to 7 at the breakpoint. The impressive part is that this ball didn’t burn up in the heads like other really dull strong balls have in the past. It projected thought the heads and had a well defined reaction of the back part of the lane and gave terrific carry. For me, it really keeps the pins low, which means better strike percentage in the long run. Although it did get down lane rather easy, the pattern is such a low volume that I still couldn’t stay with it for long.
Highway to Hell on AMF HPL9000:
On medium sport patterns, I’m the type of person that generally likes to play straighter on the fresh. With this ball, I pulled it out after a couple games after a bump spot was developed and moved way left with my feet, at least 10-15 boards. Then I could just send it out wide to the bump spot around 8-10 and let it come screaming back to the pocket. I tend to struggle a little bit when playing that deep because my eye doesn’t like to see me throwing the ball that far away from the headpin. However with the Nexus Solid, every shot I threw I knew was going to make it back to the pocket. There were several that I sent a little wide that still made it all the way back to the pocket and that still had enough energy to send all 10 in the pit. Trust me when I say that knowing you can miss it that much when hooking it that much really relaxes the armswing, especially on such a demanding condition.
WTBA Paris 47’ on AMF HPL9000:
This is where things really got fun with this ball. Unlike everyone else on this pattern, I got to start really deep and slide around 35 and swing the ball out to 10 at the breakpoint. No ball has given me so much hook yet so much of it coming from the back half of the lane. Everyone around, was jealous of the hook and the area that I had on this pattern. More importantly, it responded well to the friction to quickly stand up so that carry never suffered.
I also have a C-System Alpha Max with a very similar layout. On the whole, I’d say the Nexus Solid is about 4 boards stronger overall with all of those boards coming from the backend. Therefore, if you are like me and really like your Alpha Max but still want a little bit more reaction. Then drill up a Nexus Solid with a similar layout and it will fit in perfectly. The Nexus will be longer through the front part of the lane and more responsive at the breakpoint. That, I guarantee. In comparison to the DV8 Hell Raiser, I’d estimate it being about 3-4 boards stronger as well with about an equal response on the backend.
Conclusion:
THIS BALL HOOKS!!! Other than that, it does so in a manner that is very beneficial for all bowlers and is unlike anything I’ve ever had in my hands. It gets down the lane easy but responds quickly to the friction so you can get the ball rolling through the pins in the correct way, which rids you of those pesky corner pins. In my opinion, this is the only ball you should consider to have in your bag as your strongest piece. No other ball I’ve seen go down the lane can do what this ball does. Do yourself a favor and make this an early Christmas present to yourself.

It typically will give me a little bit of midlane read, with strong continuous motion downlane. Well, it definitely does that. Being in the pro shop industry for a little over 10 years now, I have seen big hook balls come and go. I have never seen a ball with motion like this. With my ball speed and rev rate, I usually run into one of two problems with aggressive balls….early hook and no energy downlane, or not enough hook in general when the lanes are actually slick. With the Nexus f(P+F), I am able to actually swing the ball on slicker conditions. Any ball that allows me to do that earns a full time spot in my bag. But this ball doesn’t just stop there, it’s like a gift that keeps on giving. As the lanes transition, I am able to get further left and the ball still makes the corner. The versatility of this ball is amazing. I figured this would sit in my bag collecting dust until I hit a condition that had enough volume to use it. This is not the case. On the 41’ USBC white pattern in a house that plays notoriously slicker downlane, the Nexus f(P+F) allowed me to slide around 30 and get the ball to a break point at around the 8 board. In a 5-man men’s league where traffic can obliterate the heads and track area, I continued to chase the oil left between 4th and 5th arrow and the ball continued to tip. I am able to use this ball the entire night. For comparison at this house on this same condition, my C-System Alpha Max allows me to start around 25 with my feet to a breakpoint at about the 10 board. As the lanes transition, and I begin to move left with the Alpha Max, I will usually begin to leave corner pins when playing between 4th and 5th arrow which often requires me to switch to something that retains a little more energy downlane. Throwing the Nexus f(P+F ) in the video below, on a 40’ house condition with decent backends, I am able to play about 5 boards deeper with my feet using a similar breakpoint on the fresh versus the 41’ house. Also, in the video, you will see a comparison throwing the same line with the C-System Alpha Max, and the move required to strike with the Alpha Max, plus the Nexus f(P) pearl in action with a quick comparison to the C-System Ulti-Max. If you are looking for a ball that actually does what is advertised, look no further. I don't know a whole lot about chemistry and to be honest, I don't really care, but whatever those boys at Brunswick have been doing, has been working. The last 5 balls they've released have just been really solid pieces of equipment. And continue to complement each other in such a way that it's making lane transition easier and easier to adjust to.
This NEXUS solid does two things very well. The "P" on f(p+f) stands for projection. Contrary to popular belief about solid coverstocks, this solid coverstock doesn't react like a solid. The shape the ball takes down lane really looks more closely to a pearl, with the controllability of a solid. It's simply the most aggressive ball I have thrown to date and during our video demo, was a full 6/3 boards stronger than the alpha max. Much of that attributed to how easily it projects through the front part of the lane. There certainly is some midlane read, but this ball projects through the heads and the midlane as if there was no friction.
The 2nd thing it does well is convert all that stored energy into a very aggressive backend motion. And if a ball has the controllability of a solid, but the backend motion of a pearl, you've got a ball that is going to strike a lot when it hits the pocket.
I've thrown it on three patterns. The 41 foot White Pattern; a 40' ft house shot and the 37ft Viper Pattern.
These are my impressions on each. The 41 ft White Pattern plays like a heavy oil shot. The bowling center does not have any real defined track area or any inherent friction on the lanes. Almost all patterns play long. With that said, most higher average players start on this pattern playing right around 2nd arrow. And this is typically where I would start with the Lethal Revolver or even the Ulti-Max on certain nights. Guys with high revs might play between 2nd and 3rd arrows out to about 10-11 at the breakpoint. With this ball, I was able to stand left, throw right and get the ball to recover. The nice thing was I pretty much played in the oil all night as I continued to move left into areas on the lane that hadn't been touched yet. Playing further left than guys with more revs than myself, which is always a good feeling.
The 40' ft house shot (video location). I'll typically ball down early at this house throwing weaker, longer pin pearls to even out the reaction in the friction. Throwing a solid at this house with over 300 revs is unnecessary. So it was a good test for the solid. As you'll see in the video, the ball cruises through the fronts and (with my ball roll coming from up the back of the ball) recovers from the extreme outside giving me a premium entry angle to the pocket.
The 37' ft Viper pattern was back at the house where the 41 ft white pattern was out before. The ball was still very strong and surprisingly controllable. The ball was clean and made an excellent transition when it hit the friction. It allowed me to stand a little deeper and throw the ball further to the right keeping my entry angles strong. The recovery down lane is simply insane for a guy that hits up the back of the ball. It’s very easy to fall in love with this ball.
In summary, the ball does what they intended for it to do. Clean through the fronts, maybe more-so than a pearl. It is helped by the ability to retain axis rotation further down lane than most solids. It is absolutely one of the most enjoyable balls to throw and allows you to stand deep and whip it right.

Nexus Solid *F ( P + F )
Releasing November 2011, the Nexus F (P + F), is Brunswick’s newest high performance ball. To explain the name of the ball; the first additive F is for Formula, the additive P is for Projection, and the final additive F is for Friction. These new additives are the next big thing in bowling. If the length, mid-lane, and backend reactions can be controlled, then the ball motion will always will be spot on. The friction additive will become extremely clear when you this throw this ball, because it hooks. The P-additive gives this ball plenty of push to make it down lane, but not too much push, because it always has an aggressive down lane reaction towards the pocket. My Nexus saves all its energy during through the mid-lane to then display a quick response from friction to the pocket. The engineering of this ball will allow all bowlers the consistency everyone is looking for in a bowling ball. The Nexus F (P + F) should be your next bowling ball.
· My Nexus is drilled pin above the bridge.
· I throw this ball on fresh house shots with medium to heavy oil.
· The out-of-box surface works extremely well with this ball.
