Current or new release that will give a ball motion similar to Original Inferno

Been out of the brunswick world for a while and am looking at drilling some.   I'm looking for one of the current or upcoming releases that will react similar to what the Fire and smoke original inferno did when it came out.    My gut is telling me Fotera Exile but.  The intrigue, and brute seem as they might be close too.    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies:   The taunt is one I was looking at but I was unsure as to how strong the cover is.   I have a hooligan and while I like it a lot, it's pretty weak in comparison to what the inferno was when it was released.   I will definitely research the taunt more closely

Too many releases these days.  Rarely does anyone  rave about any new ball.… its all hype for the next release.

Look for something that has a strong midlane. May require a little surface tweaking to get it where you need it.  Depending on your style ect I think the Gold Rhino may be close

Being a higher rev (425) lefty.  I was thinking the rhino pro gold.   I figured I'd have to do some surface prep regardless of what ball I try as I know the inferno was at 220 and then high glossed polish

With the strength of covers today I think the closest would be either the Hooligan Taunt, Melee Jab, or Gold Rhino Pro but I think the closest surface might be something like 500 + royal compound to help keep the balls a little smoother like I remember the Inferno

The problem is that the Inferno core was unique in that it "rolled" more downlane. Combined with a coverstock and finish that read early, it didn't react like any of the current Brunswick balls because it was easier to get it to go "forward" and quit downlane which made it very controllable. The Melee Jab is much cleaner and recovers from anywhere and once it turns, it does't quit.  Same as the Gold Pro. The current Big B covers are cleaner.

I had a feeling finding anything close was going to be a tough task.    Back to Basics hit the nail right on the head with the core of the Inferno "rolled" more down lane.   

I may just try to find an inferno   But in the meantime, whatever I try to use to "mimic" the inferno will have to be done with surface

I was thinking more along the lines of the Scholar.  The Scholar does not seem to be as flippy on the backend as the Jab, Exile, and Brute and yet a high end ball like the Inferno was.

It can be hard to compare a ball like the Inferno, since it was made 12 years ago and we don't have fresh ones here to do fair comparisons. It was a fantastic ball, a lot of people have fond memories or accomplishments.

As others have mentioned, the covers today are cleaner and more responsive than in the past. The oils have changed as well, with the advent of Defy and Ice.

Taking all things into consideration and having some time to throw all the new stuff, I would suggest looking into a Radical Primo. It had the same kind of "stuck to the lane" roll as the Inferno without being overly flippy. Now, my Primo is drilled 60x5x30 and my favorite Inferno was drilled more like 45x4x65. If they were drilled the same, that would be my pick.

The original Inferno was unique in cover prep from the factory.  The rough buff on top of an 800 grit finish gave the ball length with much more down lane aggressiveness than had been seen in any pearl prior to activator.  Not all Inferno series used rough buff it was the rough buff than made the ball so strong and unique.  A Brunswick rep told me at the time that activator was really no more aggressive than PK 18 with the same surface prep.  As for the roll, the down lane roll was the great thing about Brunswick during that era, and even earlier. Not just a characteristic of the inferno.
