Author Topic: Exile or Radical Reax Gusto? (Read 6691 times)

I've wanted to try either one of these. I bowl in a 2nd shift league that alleges they strip and oil before our league. I've used symmetrical equipment with some success but I took out by 900 Global Break Out and threw that for then first time since last season and did better. I liked how it came off the spot and drove through the pocket. I've been reading up on these 2 and I know the Exile is a ball that appears to be different than any motion of their prior stuff. I'm curious if the Exile would be too strong or if the Reax Gusto would be better. I'm torn lol.

Although I've not thrown the Gusto, my Exile is pretty angular. On fresh I can play straighter through the front and let it turn late. As the lanes break down it allows me to open up the angles substantially. Hope this helps.

Exile is quite a bit stronger than the Gusto......... I am usually 5-6 deeper with my feet with the Exile.

If the heads start to dry out, the Fortera Exile will clear the front part of the lane; And, it has a flip block that will help retain energy downlane. The Exile allows me to open up my angles and throw it to the friction later in a tournament or in a 2nd shift league. I have not thrown a Reax Gusto, but it seems that it would have a similar motion compared to the Exile.

Thanks for those who choked in and provided me your experiences with the Exile. I know surface can be adjusted but I think the Exile sounds like a ball I could get myself into.

I did get the Exile and had it drilled last Friday. Haven't had the chance to throw it yet. I'm hoping I can get a few games in before league this week.

I didn't touch the cover after drilling. Should I hit with a pad?

Try it first, but if it's over/under for your conditions, a few seconds at high speed (with water flow) and a worn 2000 pad can make all the difference for me.

The Exile, to me, is smoother at the break point than the Gusto. If you are looking for something to be smoother off the spot and have the ability to change the reaction with a little surface change, that's the equipment you need. I have thrown both. The Gusto, to me, IS better with longer oil patterns. Ex. I shot in Florida with the Gusto and found it to be a little more aggressive than I needed. I changed to the Exile and had a low set of 714 the rest of the tournament. That ball is very smooth off the spot and out of 12 games, left 4- 7 pins. The ball is very predictable. I used a 52x4 1/2x50 drill layout on the ball. Good luck and thanks for trying the Brunswick brands.

I've had the most success with my Gusto later in blocks or lighter patterns. As patterns have broke down and I've needed to get deeper inside the Gusto shines each time I change to it.

I see the same thing happening as the patterns start going away. Even on the left side, you can see the advantage of the Gusto by moving right and playing the 3rd out to 10-12 and the ball has the stuff to get back. It is a really good compliment to the Exile, in my opinion. Thanks for the reply.

After throwing the Exile OOB on a supposed fresh THS, I was impressed with the way it did get through the heads and didn't really overreact. After the first game however, is when I started to have a very strong move off the spot. I'm sure it was mostly the operators fault though. I was impressed the way it rolled for me and I'm sure with throwing it a lot more, I'm sure I will like it even more.

I drilled an Exile yesterday 50/5/40 and I will tell you there is nothing smooth about my ball off the break.

I do have above average hand and speed. It definitely gets down lane but it is very strong for me on the back.

I think the Gusto would be more at home on lighter volumes or broken down shots.

The Gusto to me is for lighter volume or when the lanes have been beaten up a bit. This ball really shines every time I used it in those cases. The Exile is clean, but would start sooner than the Gusto would. Both balls are very impressive.
