I drilled my Mystic 30 X 5 X 25, pin up above ring finger, mass on val. Perfect ball to go to when the Beatdown hooks too early. Box finish is 500 rough buff. This ball goes long and is the most angular ball by Brunswick since the versa max. Hooks more than the original Aura, and goes longer than the Paranormal. Extreme angularity. Great ball to bring from the bag after game 4 of a tournament. Cuts the carry down nicely. Brunswick has been making their pieces fit nicely together and giving bowlers something to use no matter what they seem to run into on the lanes. Thanks for the great tools Brunswick!

I was very excited when I learned about this ball, and with holes in, it does not disappoint.  I loved the original Aura!  This ball is a close 2nd to being my new favorite, and that is just cause I haven't bowled that much lately for it to be my favorite.  With a 65X5.5X40 layout, I see just a little more length than the original Aura, but a lot more angle and hook at the end.  I have it a good dot stronger with my feet, and 3-4 on the lane.  Heavy fresh oil is not this balls friend, but that certainly is not why you would buy it.  It is perfect for medium oil, and medium or longer length patterns once the lane starts to break down, and on the fresh for medium or lighter volumes.

I have had my balls for a few weeks now and have thrown them on various patterns. I feel I can now give the best review possible.

One is drilled 50x5.5x70 with a low hole and the other is drilled 70x5x40.
The new Mystic Aura comes with the same core and a Hybrid cover. It fits right in between the original Aura and the Paranormal Aura.

The Mystic is cleaner and more angular than the previous Auras. I have the most success with this ball when there is some friction to throw it at. It is usable when there is more volume but you must shut your angles down. The Paranormal would be a better option here.
With my drillings, I can actually start with my pin down ball and then finish with my pin up ball. I can see a major difference with the pin down vs the pin up. The pin up is much more angular and is really good at opening up the lane. The pin down can open up the lane some but not as much.

When you are looking for that strong ball that can clear the fronts and open up the lane, look no further than the Mystic Aura.

Ball Reviewing: Aura Mystic
Ball Surface:  OOB
Layout used:  55 x 5 7/8 x 40
Oil Pattern:  House Shot

How did the ball roll & react:  The Mystic is extremely clean through the front part of the lane and more angular than any of the previous Auras.  It rolled the best for me when I had some friction to throw at.  It’s response to friction was fairly quick, but by no means did I have any over reaction with it coming off the dry.

Did you compare this ball to another ball? If so which one:  This ball is a perfect compliment to the 2 other Auras.  I can see myself starting out with the Paranormal due to its strength and smooth roll, but when the lanes begin to dry up the Mystic will have no problem getting in and opening up the lane.  Another comparison I had was that it had the backend motion of the Nexxxus with the control of the Brawler.

Strengths & weakness’s of the ball:  The strength of the Mystic is how clean it is through the fronts and how angular it is downlane.  This is something that was needed in the Aura line.  It’s not something I would suggest using on more volume to start(that’s what the paranormal is for) but this is a ball you can finish out a tournament with.

Brunswick Aura Mystic

Bowler's Stats:
Right Handed
Speed: 18.5mph
Rev rate: 450rpm
Axis Tilt: 8*
Axis Rotation: 30* to 60*

Layout:
50* by 5.25" by 40*

Purpose: I wanted the Mystic to be my go-to ball when the Paranormal became too strong and too early. Something that would push downlane a bit more with still plenty of pop off the spot.

On the lanes: I've thrown the Mystic on 2 different house shots and 36' WTBA Los Angeles. The Mystic gave me a really clean look through the heads which can be attributed to the Optimal Versatility coverstock. The way the ball picks up on the back is exactly the same as the other Auras; something that I have loved seeing downlane ever since first throwing the original Aura. You can really tell how much work the Aura core is doing for you downlane and the Mystic is no different. On my home house shot (36', 18mL) the Aura glides downlane despite the lower volume. With most high-end balls on this condition, I have to "back off" on my release to get the ball far enough downlane. This is not the case with the Aura Mystic. I could comfortably play around 4th arrow out to about 7 on the fresh and just watch wood fly, even with really catching it at the bottom of my swing. On another house shot with more length and more volume, I could scoot a bit right and just hammer on it at the release point. This condition really showed me how much the ball can recover even with more volume downlane. On the fresh, a line of about 16 at the arrows out to 6 at the breakpoint resulted in a plethora of sick messengers for the 9s and 10s that were standing momentarily. On WTBA Los Angeles, I had the most fun with the Mystic. Due to the short pattern and friction near the gutter, my best look came from slinging the Mystic from 3rd arrow, out to the 1-2 board at 35-37', and watch it race back to the pocket. Heads were turning from the reaction this ball gave me. Only problem were the few 9 pins that somehow didn't get taken out!

One comment that I will make is that this ball is slightly more angular downlane at the actual breakpoint but it still maintains the similar read at the end of the pattern that the other Auras have given. When the Paranormal becomes too early, I can switch to the Mystic and see the same shape throughout the lane as what the Paranormal started with.

This layout is the same as those on my Original Aura and the Aura Paranormal. However, the Original Aura has a large hole on my axis to smooth it out for shorter patterns. Due to the hole, my Original Aura covers on average 3 less boards than the Mystic with the Mystic being MUCH more responsive at the breakpoint. For me, the Paranormal is a whole arrow stronger than the Mystic with the Paranormal obviously picking up more in the midlane.

I've found my best uses for the Mystic to be on fresh house shots to further exploit the miss room even more. All but extremely dry and extremely flooded house shots are no match for me and my Mystic. On tougher patterns, I've seen the Mystic used best after a couple games where you have a bit more friction to throw at to the right. With a bit of surface I could easily throw it more on fresh sport patterns but I have other balls (like the new Meanstreak Beatdown) that read fresh sport patterns better.

Summary: The Mystic is simply another exceptional ball from the Aura line. Every ball in the Aura line has been absolute money for me and I see no reason as to why the Mystic would be any different. Easy length, still the same read at the end of the pattern, and a booming backend. Like the other Auras, I can't imagine leaving home without it. I can't wait for the Mystic to make me as much money as the other two have! It's a great ball for medium to medium-heavy house shots that 99% of league bowlers should have in their bag.

I wasn't sure what to expect when drilling the new Aura Mystic.  A number of times in the past I have been looking for a particular shape to add to my arsenal, but this time I didn't have anything particular in mind.  I decided on a layout I have had a lot of success with in the past and went with it.  I wound up with a new reaction I haven't had in the bag in the past.  The Aura Mystic fits in right between the first two Aura series ball with a whole new shape entirely.  It is much stronger off the breakpoint and has that skid flip reaction most bowlers like on medium to heavier lane conditions.  It is clean through the front, then it slows down in the midlane in preparation for a very strong quick move at the breakpoint.  Once there is a defined breakpoint this ball is almost impossible to throw through it!  That is not all that makes it special though.  Quite simply, this is the most versatile skid/flip ball I have ever owned.  Optimum Versatility, the name of the coverstock, seems to describe this ball best in my case.  The Aura Mystic with the necessary adjustments has been playable on everything I have bowled on at some point lately.  It has tackled patterns from 40 to 52 feet long.  The ball would even tip a little on the back on the 52 foot Badger pattern.  If you can change the way you throw the ball to accommodate the angles you are playing this ball is absolute money!  Pin carry has also been very good with some messengers in key situations when the ball hit light in the pocket.  It is a 3/2 move left off of the Original Aura and a 3/2 move right off of the Paranormal on a 41 foot house shot.  The Aura Mystic has surprised me everywhere I go and has become my go to ball when I need something to make a quick move down lane.  I have rolled most of my games lately with it and it appears as if it will be my go to ball as long as there is some head oil for a long time.  If you are looking for a skid/flip reaction with ability to open up the lanes as they transition, and added versatility with bowler adjustments then the Aura Mystic is a great choice!

LANE CONDITION

Length: 40

Volume: 26ml

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):  THS, but with a little more outside than most

COMMENTS

Likes:  Very responsive on the back end at factory finish.  Knock the gloss off for a more smooth change of direction.  This ball seems to be very versatile.  The colors are a bonus.

Dislikes: I can't think of any time when the ball did not do what I expected, so there is nothing to report.

Think of this one as a  cleaner version than the original Aura, and much cleaner than the Paranormal.  So far this one is lots of fun!

Comments:
This ball is amazing. I have had all three balls in the Aura line and original was ok, I was expecting more late reaction from it. The Paranormal was a great heavy oil ball, but it just rolled and rolled and rolled. This new Mystic Aura is the second ball that Brunswick has released with a hybrid cover and it is the definition of what a hybrid is, this balls rolls up like a solid but has pop on the backend like a pearl. I have tried this on the Baton Rouge Open Championship pattern and this ball fit perfect, when I used my Paranormal the ball wouldn’t finish and then I would switch to a pearl piece and it would sail, the Mystic Aura though worked awesome it rolled at the right distance and still allowed me to open up the lane. I also used this ball on few different house shots. One was on old wood lanes and the Mystic Aura at the box finish was to strong but when I put some polish on it, it worked much better and increased the backend good 4-5 boards.
I also dulled this up with 1500 neat pad and the ball was that much stronger. It still held the characteristics of the hybrid though; even with the dull cover it still had continuation on the backend and through the pin deck.

Likes: This ball fits just below Paranormal Aura and Aura

Dislikes: None

The Mystic Aura with the Hybrid cover has a similar arcing motion as the Aura, but is stronger downlane. This ball is a step down when the Paranormal Aura and Aura are hooking too much. The way I drilled this ball with the pin above the fingers allows me to get left and still have recovery because of the core and cover. It has a stronger backend reaction than the Paranormal Aura and Aura. This ball is good for medium to heavier oil conditions and has a good midlane roll.
