COMMENTS

Currently the first ball out of my bag. The ball is really clean through the heads, doesn't seem to have a problem reading the mids. Definitely needs some oil or a slight surface change to keep from leaving the weak tens. I like the versatility the ball gives me. I'm able to start right and go up the boards, but I'm also able to get inside and open up the lane. Haven't noticed any over/under yet during the transition.

The fact that he coverstock goes all the way to the core makes the ball hit like a Truck. I do like that it does not send the pins every where. It keeps them low increasing the ability for carry for me. I would suggest maybe hitting the cover with a fresh 1000 pad by hand just to break the cover up a little.

I think this is a must have ball for people that are looking for that smooth motion and great hitting power. It's great on heavy oil. Very smooth and predictable off the spot. You definitely would be a impressed with the performance.

I laid out my Forest Green Quantum exactly like my Vintage Danger Zone which is 45 x4 ¾ x70.  The Forest Green Quantum is a ball that is a step up from my Danger Zone.  It’s a great compliment for when the Danger Zone doesn’t quite turn the corner.
Compared to my danger zone the Forest Green Quantum is about 3 boards more overall hook.  When I have a great look on the lanes with the Danger Zone but it just doesn’t turn the corner the right way, out comes the Forest Green Quantum and it’s time to strike at will

The Thicker Shells of the Quantum Bowling Balls really sets them apart from everything else that’s out when they go thru the pins.  The sound that’s made is a loud distinct crack that no other ball that’s out produces.  When you see the pins flying and hear the loud crack everyone will know you’re throwing a quantum.   Get yourself a quantum and set yourself apart from the rest

BRUNSWICK FOREST GREEN QUANTUM REVIEW

Ball Weight: 15 lbs.
Drill Pattern: 50* x 5” x 35*
PAP: 4 5/8” x 0” (up)
SPEED: 17.5 – 18.0 mph (release)
TILT: 17.5*
REV RATE: 360

I drilled the Brunswick Forest Green Quantum to be the second most aggressive ball in my bag, behind only the Mastermind Strategy, and it has not disappointed. With the 50* x 5” x 35* drill pattern, the pin ended up above and to the left of my ring finger. I did not need a weight hole, but have the option to add one if needed. I have used the Forest Green Quantum on a wide variety of lane conditions. I will post them below, as well as a brief synopsis of how the ball performed.

41 FT. TYPICAL HOUSE SHOT:

As you would imagine on a typical house shot (THS), I was able to play inside and create a lot of area with the Forest Green Quantum, with a good amount of “miss room”. The great thing about the Forest Green Quantum is that I am able to keep migrating further into the lane with my target and my feet and still have very good pin carry, which is not always true of other, high end, fairly aggressive balls I have reviewed and used in the past. Being on the left side allows me to stay further outside longer, but having the ability to move inside and know you can carry is a valuable tool for all bowlers to have, and the Forest Green Quantum gives me that peace of mind. I liked the box finish, but I also used this ball quite a bit sanded up to 4000 with no polish, and with less traffic on the left side, this surface was absolutely incredible on this ball. It allowed me to play further outside while increasing my carry percentage over playing further inside with the ball at a lower surface. This ball takes very well to surface adjustments and do not be afraid to tune it to the specific shot on the lanes, the Forest Green Quantum can handle it beautifully.

KEGEL “ABBEY ROAD” OIL PATTERN:

This 40ft. Challenge Series pattern proved to be a very interesting pattern for the Forest Green Quantum, as I bowled in a high end tournament twice on this pattern. I tried it on the fresh at box finish and really liked the initial look I got. I was able to play 14 to 9 and move in as the pattern transitioned, keeping pin carry about the same as I moved. I then used it sanded up at 4000 and found that even with 40ft. of oil, I was able to move further out and get decent pin carry. But, I bowled that (5) game tournament block on the pattern, and by midway through game three, I was able to get further inside with the Forest Green Quantum at box finish and found a very nice ball reaction, where other balls were laboring to get back to the pocket. This was very impressive to me, and having another 4000 grit Forest Green Quantum to go to later in a block when others were starting to struggle with pin carry and angle to the pocket, will give me a leg up on other bowlers.

KEGEL “BROADWAY” OIL PATTERN:

I used the Forest Green Quantum on this 37ft. Challenge Series pattern, and found that this was the only pattern where I had a hard time using the ball for an entire block at box finish, but I did like the look of the ball at 4000 sanded on this pattern for a five game set. I believe the shorter length of the pattern really steers away from the strong nature of a 1000 box finish sanded Forest Green Quantum, and I was able to get to the pocket from multiple angles, but pin carry was not as good as some of the longer or heavier oil patterns I have used the Forest Green Quantum on at box surface. But, the Forest Green Quantum takes to cover changes very well, and I took it up to my favorite girt for this ball, 4000 sanded, and transformed the Forest Green Quantum from a ball I may have to leave in the bag, to one that dominated the Kegel Broadway oil pattern. The extra length provided by the 4000 surface allowed the Forest green Quantum to get through the front part of the lane easily, while retaining enough energy to strike consistently from multiple angles. This is another great reason to own more than one Forest green Quantum, keep one dull for the heavier patterns, and have one either with a higher grit or polished for the shorter and broken down oil patterns. I was pleasantly surprised with the results after the cover change, and it shows that the Forest Green Quantum really is a great all around bowling ball.

In closing, I would like to thank everyone at Brunswick Bowling for making another winner. Brunswick truly has the best, most versatile lineup around. Showing what the  Forest Green Quantum can do across a variety of oil patterns, from THS to medium and long Challenge Series patterns, will help bowlers see the versatility of the Forest Green Quantum, and just how easily this ball can be used on a wide array of conditions. It is the first ball out of my bag on medium-heavy patterns, and when the lanes carry down, I grab the sanded Forest Green Quantum, move inside and have fun. I hope you enjoyed my review of the Brunswick Forest Green Quantum bowling ball, good luck and good bowling everyone. Go get your Forest Green Quantum today!

The forest green quantum brings back predictable ball motion with heavy hitting power at the pins.  This is a great benchmark ball that can be thrown on a wide range of lane conditions.  The cover is strong enough for heavy fresh oil but my favorite time to throw this ball is when the lanes just start to break down.  On a slight broken down condition this ball is one of the best I have ever thrown at handling over under conditions and the medium rg core keeps the ball from burning up.

The Quantam Forest Green Solid is a BEAST.  This ball is the perfect ball for medium to heavy oil patterns.  Its a little clean through the fronts but then it has quick midlane roll and a continuous arcing motion in the backend.  I laid my out for tighter sport shots and heavily volume house shots and this ball gets the job done.  It a must for all bowlers bowling sport shots in todays world

My Forest Green Quantum is drilled pin down with the CG kicked out about 1 inch and a small p3 weight hole.  What I love about this ball is the predictable ball motion and the way that it blends out the wet/dry.  I had to hit mine with a 3000 grit pad to be able to use on league patterns as the OOB was a bit too much.  This ball is a great first ball out of the bag.

Likes: hitting power, great recovery in oil, ability to play multiple angles

Dislikes: none

Brunswick has once again improved on a blast from the past! The Forest Green Quantum is clean through the front with a very reliable midlane read. The difference in this and other recent releases seems to be the backend recovery it provides. I have found that once the pattern breaks down I can stay with this ball longer than other strong solid reactive balls. It seems to make it through all 3 games of league when other balls don't. The pin carry is simply amazing with this ball! It allows me to open the lane quite a bit and still be able to get the flat ten out. It is simply a few pins better on average a game than anything that isn't a new Quantum. I have thrown many strikes with it including a 300 game. Both Quantums have been very good for me personally. I can't seem to put them down. If your looking for hook on oilier conditions and great carry, check out the new Forrest Green Quantum!

The Forest Green Quantum has a similar motion to the original Quantum balls from 20 years ago because the construction, 2 piece ball, and core shapes are similar. With the solid PK2016 coverstock formulation and 2000 grit surface, it can handle medium to heavier amounts of oil. This is usually one of the first balls out of my bag to get a read of the lanes. I used the 60 x 4 ½” x 40 dual angle layout on this ball, which is my standard pin up layout, to give me a smoother arcing type of motion on the lane. This layout works perfectly and is the motion that I was looking to get from this ball. This ball has a higher RG which will help the ball get farther down lane before going into the roll stage which is about 40 – 44 feet on average. On a THS, I can throw it over 15 at the arrows out to about 7 to start and have no problems chasing the oil left as the night progresses and opening up my angles. I have also used this ball on a flatter 39’ sport pattern, and it allowed me to keep my angles closed but not overreact when reaching the friction. With the core weighing about 4 pounds, and 3.5 times more coverstock weighing about 11 pounds. This ball will transfer more energy to the pins, and create more opportunity to strike. The forest green quantum will give you a predictable ball motion, good continuation downlane, and will help you raise your strike percentage.

Layout is 45x4x65.
15lb
400rpm
@16 mph ball speed
18' tilt

I have tried ball at box surface, 2000, 3000, and 4000 without much luck.  Honestly this ball has been a huge disappointment.  On all lane surfaces, I see the same reaction ....balls lays down and has no hitting power.  It almost looks like a urethane ball reaction.  I could see this ball possible working well on a higher friction surface where you need to play outside.

Save your money and look elsewhere.

To start, I have my Forest Quantum drilled with the CG 1 inch below the ring finger, and the pin is one inch to the right and one inch above the ring finger. Due to the high pin drilling, this ball goes a little further down the lane for me, but it still rolls early and smooth. It makes a wonderfully smooth transition through the break point and gives a fantastic move to the pocket. Of course, it delivers the punishment to the pins, and it pushes through the pocket just like you would hope. The pin carry is fantastic, and It is just like anybody old enough, would remember from the quantum line years ago. I would recommend this ball to anybody looking for a smooth consistent ball on medium to medium heavy oil lane conditions.

I have done well with this ball OOB, but I recently just changed it to 3000 surface and I love this change to the surface. This ball stores the energy and absolutely crushes the pins, and I love seeing the explosion generated.

Brunswick keeps pushing the edge with technology.  Re-introducing the Quantum’s was awesome.  The Forest Green Quantum provides excellent control with outstanding backend reaction.  I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a solid ball get down the lane like this one does.  If you’re looking for a benchmark ball for medium to heavy oil, get yourself a Forest Quantum.  With the Fire Quantum you can use when you need a little bit more angle or when the lanes start to dry out.  I found the Fire Quantum to be a little to clean for me, so I just cracked the surface with a 2000 grit siaar pad and the Fire Quantum REALLY came to life.
WHAT YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT CARRY?  I was skeptical at first.  Then the first night I used the Quantum’s in league I think I carried about 2 extra hits per game.  These Quantum’s do have the extra carry percentage with carrying the marginal shots(weak 10s) and even helps break up splits.  With there being two quantum’s(one solid and one pearl) you can cover such a wide range of ball motions.

4" pin to PAP above fingers no hole

I have bowled 3 tournaments in the last three weeks, and I probably used this ball 75% of the time. By far my favorite ball right now.

Originally I put some polish on, but I found it was going a little too long into the lane. I took it back down to box finish, and once I got a little oil shine back on this ball it has given me the best look on multiple medium length patterns.

The design of the core/cover really does increase your carry. I can stay with this ball moving deeper into the lane and it still retains enough energy to strike. It reacts well to different hand position and axis rotation, unlike some assym's that have a strong MB.

I highly recommend the Forest Green Quantum!!!

LANE CONDITION

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc):  Fresh THS for league

Drilling: 3" pin to pap, 30 degree val angle

COMMENTS

Likes:  Quite simply the strongest 2 piece and one of the strongest balls on the market period.  At least with my style this ball is stronger than my More Cash especially with surface (the Quantum is much earlier albeit with less back end).  In fact its the first non spare ball I have had to take to 4000+ grit surface or else have to start off standing further left than I like.   An absolute dream for those of us rev challenged with lots of tilt and very speed dominant.  Ball reads the midlane just as well as my Hy-Road but can handle more and the fresh oil much better.  Hits as hard as the Hy-Road as well.  In fact this ball along with my Hy-Road for the transition, are the 1 & 2 punch I use for league or any other time I have to score.  They would be some of the first balls out of my bag for tournaments as well (IQ Tour and then if not strong enough Quantum Green would be my first choice).  Just a plain awesome first out of bag ball for fresh or heavy oil.

Dislikes:

Probably for the majority of bowlers this might be too much ball for THS but would make an excellent 2 piece oiler.  Very easy to have too much surface with this ball as it will burn up its own shot and ball has to have some oil in the heads or will burn up (ball will hook at your feet with lots of surface).  Also ball was ridiculously priced for far too long and now that its finally reasonably priced it looks like its going out of stock.  Glad I grabbed one.  Also haven't tried to go super deep with the ball as that is not my game but might struggle on very deep angles due to a pretty smooth back end.
