C300 Newer Releases with Fun and Bright Colors
« on: August 14, 2014, 10:51:24 AM »
The throwdown seems like it will be another solid release for C300. However, in my area the C300 stuff is just sitting on the shelf. I don't see any of it being thrown in leagues or tournaments lately. There are two C300 faithfuls that have started transitioning to another brand because of the bright color schemes. I think people will miss out on some good rolling pieces, because of this new fun and bright color concept that columbia has decided to go with.

Ebonite's version of DV8??

I don't think so. DV8 is trying to be more edgy and "In your face". Columbia is trying to be more family oriented from how they are advertising themselves.

I think on this subject txbowler's above comment is pretty much what they are going for.  If you notice on the lanes and go look at it, then the concept worked.  Just my opinion.

Almost every manufacture has released one or several bowling balls with really bright colors.

I am picky when it come to this because it can cause problems when the ball is going down the lane and how you perceive the ball is reacting versus what it is actually doing. Light or dark mixtures can cause this problem sometimes if the pattern is just right to look wrong.

I have had this happen with a Brunswick c-systems Ulti-max, Hammer Grind(green black), Morich Awesome revs, and a few others.

The new DV8 Schizo was one I thought I would never try because of the bright/light color mix. However the ball looked better in person then in the pictures and was very happy after drilling. I am able to see the ball and its progression as it goes down the lane just fine.

That is why color is important to me.

+1
I personally prefer solid colors or balls that when rolled, look mostly like a solid color as I can read the ball reaction better.  If it's the right mixture, I can read it as well.  Sometimes depending on where your PAP is related to a large swath of color, it's either really good or really bad.
The Columbia Burst had 3 colors but when rolled have this affect whereby I can read the ball reaction very nicely.  I really like my Blur Hybrid but for some reason where the silver streaks are laid next to my PAP, I don't like the way it "looks" rolling.
I didn't think I would like the Marvel-S with the large black and green swaths, but again, based on the way the color sat against the PAP, I actually like it a lot.
For me, it's all about being able to read the ball reaction.  When you can, it gives me more confidence and I throw the ball better.  Yes there is psychology involved but it is what it is.

I'm in the same boat. I can really read the reaction well with my Virtual Energy and Blur Pearl, but I had an Absolut Curve that I seemed to struggle with because I couldn't gage how I was throwing the ball with the way the colors mixed around my PAP
