Got the Dr. Jekyll with a 1" pin.  Drilled it up with a 4" pin under ring, with the CG stable underneath.  All I can say is wow.  I drilled the hyde a few years ago, and basically threw the coverstock off, and never had the Jekyll.  Now, they have combined the hyde and the jekyll, what a great match.  I love the reaction shape of this ball.  It has great length and has a strong arc toward the 1-3.  The carry is great as well.  This ball is a great compliment to the power-drive when the power drive turns up too quick.  I can go from the PD striaght to the DJ with-out a move.  I like that.  Easy bowling.

I drilled this up with the pin under my ring finger, CG swung out towards my PAP, weight hole on PAP.  It gets great length with a very controllable yet strong move on the back.  I will have to agree with Wes's assessment that it is a great compliment to the Power Drive.  Great mix on the light hits as well.  While it probably won't be the first ball out of the bag for more seasoned players, it is a great arsenal ball as well as a great choice for a first reactive for beginners.

16lb. Pin over ring and CG stacked (4.5x4.5)1500 finish. See my profile for bowler info.

Finally have enough games on it to post a review. Loved the Hyde on medium to medium heavy conditions. I am currently bowling in a house with medium at best to lighter conditions. 37 feet with clean backends.

I had hoped that from the Columbia website that this ball would be more of a lighter condition ball. It's a touch too strong for light to dry. It does get through the heads easily as most Super-Flex pearls will. But it will stand up quick if there is not enough oil. It is stronger than my Fire Quantum drilled the same with similar surface. Hook shape is similar. My Green Gargoyle drilled 4.5x4 is longer and more back endy than the DR J.

The DR J does turn the corner strong but doesn't go sideways. What I like best is that is does accept different hand position changes very well. The house I bowl in always has pairs that are different by 7-10 boards. I can easily lay off or jump on the DR J to very good results.

For the price it hits pretty good.
For medium to medium light conditions, it's a good purchase and the first ball out of my bag.

247, 280, 269 = 796 out of the box...enough said, but ill say more because honestly i just cant say enough about this ball.  It is the most consistent dry to medium lane ball i have ever seen. Clears the heads with ease, doesnt wait too long to make its move, smooth arc to the pocket that scatters pins everywhere.  I like to use this ball when i want to play straight up the boards on a drier fresh shot, or in the second block of tournaments when the lanes are fried.  When there is considerable carrydown the ball doesnt like to turn the corner, but that is just about the only negative thing i can say.  I'm bowling in a 2 ball challenge league and the Jekyll is one of the balls.  After 16 games i have used the jekyll for 15 of them and am averaging 240.  I was never a fan of Columbia, but the has Jekyll made me give it another chance.

This ball is very good on drier oil patterns, but forget trying to use it on medium to heavier oil because it won't hook. I use it for a spare ball on medium to heavy oil patterns. If your looking for a dry lane ball then this is a good choice.

Older Ball still hits hard

I have had two of these balls one with pin up and the other with it down.  I had the bridge crack out on the pin up.  I still use the pin down weekly on a ths with wood lanes and medium oil.  I recently just bowled my second 300 game of my career with it.  Ironically the first was with the jekyl with the pin up.  This ball glides through the heads and the makes a hard turn and destroys the pocket.  One of the best balls i have ever owned if used in the proper conditions.
