Description: The Mass Eruption is a double threat. It's a hybrid so that means it will be a perfect mix between a solid and a pearl. This ball is great on light to medium oil lane conditions and broken down lane conditions after the oil starts to dry up. It will have a strong mid-lane read and continue that into the pocket due to the solid/pearl coverstock. The coverstock might be newer for Columbia but the core is famous, the Resurgence Symmetric core is back and just as powerful as ever. If you want a strong mid-lane read this ball is great for your arsenal.

If you liked the first 2 Eruptions, your going to love this one. This Mass Eruption is for more oil on the lane, where the first 2 were for a little less oil. This ball will get through the front part of the laner clean like the first 2 Eruptions, but will start up in the midlane sooner with more contiuation and will Not loose its hitting power. Bugsy Kellythe brand manager of Colubia 300 hit this out of the park again.

In my opinion, the Mass Eruption is the best in the Eruption line. Bowlers will find more mid-lane recovery, similar to that of the Resurgence, and will still see a lot of down-lane pop, similar to the Eruption but a little stronger. For being a low differential ball, this ball stores a massive amount of energy to get down-lane, thanks to the New Era Hybrid coverstock. I drilled my Mass Eruption with the pin directly below my bridge with the CG kicked out just a touch. Box finish gave me a little too much mid-lane read, so I took the surface up to 4000 Abralon. The low RG core helps this ball and drilling get into a roll soon, but the hybrid cover keeps it from hooking at your feet. You can expect to see about two feet earlier hook compared to the Violent Eruption, which is perfect for when league night is fresh. This is a must-have for the competitive league bowler and for tournament bowlers who are bowling on flatter, medium length/oil patterns.

COMMENTS

Likes: Early, smooth.

Dislikes: Difference between this ball and the Violent Eruption are very subtle, but there is a bit of bias involved with this. I also liked using the Violent Eruption with both surface and shine, but only owned one. Now I can keep the red one shiny and skip the front of the lane better, and this one with a bit of surface to slow the response to friction.

I'm a big fan of the resurgence core. I have a Violent eruption and a Resurgence Revival in my arsenal right now.

Ball has a low rg core and a hybrid coverstock. I threw the ball on a worn down Anvilane surface, with Kegel Main Street pattern. As expected, the ball cleared the front part of the lane, revved up quickly, and provided me with a smooth look into the pocket.

I was surprised that the ball played as clean as it is, as I was expecting a distinct "shell up" from the Violent Eruption, out of the box. In reality, the ball provides a similar amount of boards as the Violent eruption, but it just provides me with a different shape. This is fine, as distinct "shells up" in the C300 line include Resurgence Revival DB, Omen, and Oath.

Depending on volume, it appears that this could be one of the first balls out of the bag for me. It's clean, and it's not overly aggressive enough for me to get greedy, move left, and abuse the shim. This will provide me with an opportunity to keep my angles close in the front of the lane for as long as possible, then if I need to make a big move left of the headpin and swing it right, I can shell up from here. It's a good place to start.
