I just drilled up a Jekyll.

This was a 2-3 inch pin and the pin was set under the bridge and cg kicked right 1/2" from centerline and no weight hole.

This ball on heavy oil which the ball isn't intended just goes long with an arc.

When the lanes started to dry up and there was some dry boards this ball moves and is fairly angular.  It can bounce off the 2-3 board and drive the pocket without difficulty and there is energy to spare.  Sounds good when it hits the pocket.  Ball revs up well and reminds me of my Savage pearl but revs more and the jump is quicker off the dry.  Not so much a skid/snap but smooth off the transition.  When this ball stand up and gets into it's roll it drives well.  

Good core and coverstock combination.  After league was over got a chance to see what this ball does on a drier condition and it gets through the heads fairly well and gets good length.  Turned up the revs, played it up the back, gave it axis rotation good look from all.  I think strokers and high rev players that swing the ball will like this a lot.  Down and in players with good speed may like it as well.

People were looking at the ball and liking the reaction.  They were surprised when I told them it was a 14lber.

Worth taking a look at.  I will test this ball some more but I think it will be a keeper.

Not yet - I've got one in the mail, but I probably won't drill it for a while. I'd heard that it was a "strong" pearl reactive, and judging by the core shape I'm hoping it will be similar to my Rip. You ever throw the Rip?

Hey Doc,

I do have a Jekyll and a Hyde. I have thrown the Jekyll for about three games and let me tell you that the ball doesn't like oil at all. I have it drill at stable label, which is the pin above the ring finger exactly at 12 o'clock, but on a regular christmas tree pattern for league at 37' feet down I can play straight up the 10 board with 16.25 mph speed and 375 rev rate. I have not come across a drier condition to test the ball yet. But I can email with those results if you want.

Now if you think the Jekyll hits hard "on the right condition" the Hyde hits twice as hard. If you blink at the point of impact, you miss the pin reaction. Now for the Hyde you do need a good amount of oi9l in the midlane, I believe that it is drilled 3 x 3 1/2 with low top and a pin in. But if you have a condition with good midlane oil or a ton of carry down on the back ends, the ball continually moves and drives in a constant motion. RandyO - i hae never thrown the rip but I can tell you that even though the ball is strong it doesn't jump off the dry.  It's move reminds me a lot of the Savage pearl.

Nolimitz - You are correct about oil across the lanes but the Jekyll can handle some carry down.  I get about 4 inches of flair on the ball and I have mine drilled with the pin just below the bridge cg kicked out 1/2" to the right with no weight hole.  I am sure if you drilled this ball stronger and lightly scuffed the cover this would also do very well with oil.

I won't get a Hyde because we never get that much oil out this way.

I will test on another condition this week.

Just tested on a fresh shorter oil pattern with stripped backends and this ball just is so smooth off the wetdry that it will be a strokers dream.  Deep inside and turning up the revs this ball can do it all.

Doesn't overreact and gets down the lane really well and saves energy to the backend.

Going to test it again on Thursday where the oil is even lighter and heads aare super dry.

Conditions for the strappers last night(last night of league), looked very kindly!!!  They wanted to bring them back after having some horrible conditions during the year.

Saw a Jekyll rip out a rip roaring 300, (guy had a good shot at 800 when I left).

Down the house saw a 350 rev guy throw 278 with the Hyde, and then
back on the very favorable pair of 15 and 16 saw another strapper throw 299 with a Vendetta.

Last guy says he was trying to throw 292 and missed for 299 go figure!!

Guy throwing the Jekyll said he thought it was a 3 piece with Urethane.

Just goes to show "you don't have to know it to throw it".
