Question about the drilling on my Uturn pearl
« on: October 10, 2005, 04:47:49 AM »
I traded for this ball, and just moved the thumb to change the span.  It is drilled with the ring finger drilled IN the pin with the CG kicked a bit to the right.  There is a small weighthole in line with the CG.  I really have no idea what this drilling promotes, and I wonder what kind of reaction it should give me.

For 90% of the people, that's a strong drilling - medium length (for a resin pearl), maximum hook.

Its actual ball reaction will have a lot to do with your release, ball speed and the lane surface + oil pattern.  Without that, this ball could hook at your feet or skid 65 feet.

Typically for me.

This reaction promotes a pretty good backend and a goodly amount of midlane.

Fairly rounded as far as reactions go depending on the reaction characteristic of the core.

U turn pearl is sort of flippy.  So the kick out starts the midlane earlier and thus smooths out the backend a little from a stacked drilling on the Uturn.

I use this drilling on an Icon and it is very rounded but that is a more round core motion anyway.

All of this is if you believe that on a symmetric ball...cg..do matter or core orientation means something.

Otherwise it will hook like other balls where pin is in ring finger.
