Tyrant & Impulse & Nitrous
« on: September 22, 2016, 01:06:30 PM »

Every company says that they're new balls are jaw dropping, and that they all go through the oil with ease (@Tyrant's description).
I just wanted to make a thread for these new balls, don't see any other thread for them.
Most used:
Motiv Venom Shock (14)
DV8 Grudge Hybrid (14)
Hammer Scandal (14)
DV8 Freakshow (14)

Sometimes.
C300 Swerve (14)
Motiv Jackal LE (14)

Retired:
Roto Grip Sinister (13)
Motiv Jackal (14)

Given to a no-thumber in the club:
Brunswick T-zone (13)

Might stick with Motiv from now on.

The Impulse is interesting. Looks like it uses the same coverstock as the Swerve GT, just factory finished with polish instead of surface.

They're using the same coverstock on the Tyrant that was on the original Swerve, but with the Hypershock in the coverstock as well as the filler. Stuff like this is always worth keeping an eye on to see if it's just hype or actual substance. Columbia 300 is due for a big hit in their high-end line.

Nice throwback on the logo for the Impulse. That was a really good series.

Looking forward to seeing all the reviews when the new Impulse is released. I imagine there will be a blue pearl version of the Impulse in the near future, similar to the old Blue Pulse pearl years ago. Great versatile ball during my high school days in the late 90's. Speaking of which why did the Pulse's have a sticker around the clear looking pin that said do not drill into sticker area? I know the remake's didn't have the same sticker and the ceramicore in them. Anyway I want to drill up an Impulse! lol

With the description of the Tyrant, it seems like the cover would be similar to the Scandal

The hypershock is some wild stuff . It difficulty changes how the ball goes through the pins . I have to drill up a 14 # truant for my dad now that I saw how it affects the hitting power .

The Impulse is a great rolling piece - very clean with a strong angular motion in the backends that do not quit. I am really impressed on how much hook this ball has in the backends. Very different motion for the C300 brands...

Tyrant - Holy hook Batman... This ball is STRONG - for me very similar to my Scandal, but a touch stronger overall ball than my Scandal. It is also a touch longer than Paradox with more backends & can handle the same amount of heavier oil patterns. - I tried a Demo of this ball and will be getting one of these soon, for sure!
