Factory Finish

I have looked but could not find the answer. When you look at the spec sheets for various balls sometimes you will see the factory finish as 500/500/1000.
I can see 500/1000 (4 or 6 sides) but the extra 500 throws me off.

How is this possible?

Maybe that's not the right question.
I wonder why do it?
What does it provide that a single, TRUE sanding with a 500 grit pad does not?

Its the right question for me. Why advertise 500/500/1000 when a Simple 500/1000 would do, is the extra 500 denoting more time with 500 pad?

Yes, each number represents 1 minute at that grit.

Thanks for the response, Phoneman!  I guess its easier to express it that way then saying 2 mins 500/ 1 min 1000
