Intermediate Differential - what is it?
« on: May 04, 2011, 01:15:02 PM »
There may be a post on this but I don't know where it is.

My question is what exactly is Intermediate Differential compared to RG and RG Differential? Does Intermediate Differential determine overall hook or just backend or what?

Is there a detailed article anywhere I can read?

Can anybody explain it to me?

Thanks!

This may help. You may have to copy and paste it to your browser.http://forum.bowlingchat.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2976&hilit=Intermediate+Differential

If that thread doesn't help, use the search fuction.I'm sure you will find an answer on that site.

Intermediate Differential is calculated by minusing the the value of the Intermediate RG axis from High RG axis "PSA".

Int. Diff determines the strength of the PSA. The stronger the Int. Diff the faster the spin time of the PSA. The faster the spin time of the PSA the shorter the hook zone on the lane. Which means the ball will transition from Skid-Hook-Roll faster.

The highest intermediate differential currently would be the Motiv Cruel. It has an intermediate diff of .030

Intermediate differential  - The difference in radius of gyration between the Y (high RG) and Z (intermediate RG) axes on the bowling ball.

The higher the the intermediate differential the stronger a balls PSA.
