This is DV8's weakest ball. Drilled this one 45x5.40 threw this on THS ball was a great off the burn area, still requires some head oil, was able to square up with this ball and stillget it to hit. Swing area was ok, if you got to the friction early it did not jump off the pattern rather it started up too early

Layout: 65 by 4 3/4 by 35

I was really impressed with the motion of the Marauder Mutiny.  The ball was a bit cleaner through the front of the lane than my Diva, but still maintained that continuous backend that makes the Diva so good.  If you've ever been in a pinch where your Diva is picking up a smidge too early, and your Misfit is a touch too long, the Marauder Mutiny will fill that gap nicely.

When comparing to the original Marauder, which was also a symmetrical hybrid, I found the Mutiny has a considerably larger amount of backend.  The red/yellow Marauder was clean with a very smooth shape on the backend, while the new Mutiny is clean with strong pop.

I feel the new Marauder Mutiny will fit in everybody's bag for medium to lighter oil conditions.  Stop by your local shop and pick one up, you won't be disappointed!

Bowler's Stats:
Right Handed
Speed: 18.5mph
Rev rate: 450rpm
Axis Tilt: 8*
Axis Rotation: 30* to 60*

Layout:
50* by 5.75" by 30*

Purpose:
To serve as a go-to ball for when I need the ball to clear the fronts easily with a strong response off the downlane friction.

On the lanes:
Thanks to the cover/core combo and the layout, I got just what I asked for. My first time with the ball was on a house shot still out from league the previous night. With the easy length through the fronts, it was almost as if I was bowling on fresh. The Mutiny would glide through the heads, pick up just past 40' then stand up and rush back to the pocket. Although my original Marauder had a slightly stronger layout, I could easily tell on this condition that I had to concentrate harder on getting the original through the heads which led to a less pronounced move off the dry downlane.

Moving to a fresh low-med volume house shot at my home house, the ball started looking even better. With the new, lower volume house shot, most higher-end balls don't react to well to my release stats. Until this ball, I was relying on my Strike King to give me the push through the heads and the punch at the pins. Just as before, the Mutiny let me clear the fronts without worry and get far enough down to my desired breakpoint before making the turn. Thinking about it now, I don't think I've had a symmetric ball stand up as quickly on the backend as this Mutiny. I can hit it as much as I want at the bottom of the swing and still have it clear the heads. Then, as soon as I think it's not coming back, it stands up and kicks back to the pocket. This ball makes it much easier for me to play inside of 5th arrow when the lanes dry up but I still need to send it out to the dry. I always feel like playing deep is my weakness due to my heavy forward roll. The Mutiny gives me much more confidence in getting that far inside and knowing that I can still send the ball out and not worry about it facing up to the pocket. This Mutiny is now a staple in my bag for that reason alone. Compared to the original Marauder (recall the original has a slightly stronger layout), the Mutiny is a 3 and 2 move outside. The Mutiny easily "out-backends" the original while the original gives more midlane roll.

I have yet to alter the surface of this ball due to loving what I see at the box surface. That being said, I would need to scuff the surface to be able to use this routinely on more competitive conditions. With the coverstock formulation and the polished finish, the Mutiny doesn't read the midlane enough for fresh sport patterns (especially with such a flippy layout like the one I used). Even on short WTBA patterns I found it a little too flippy for my taste off the end of the pattern. That's not what this ball is really designed for. This ball thrives on conditions where there is a defined hook spot to throw to, regardless of it being a house shot or a sport pattern with track blown into it. As stated before, I could scuff the surface but I'd rather keep it where it's at to be able to exploit the hook spots when they develop. Once I tracked up the 2-3-4 on WTBA Stockholm, I could play 2nd arrow out to the 3 board and crush the pocket. Once I tracked up 4th arrow on 51' flat, I could get just inside of the hook spot, send it to tracked up area around the 14th board downlane at 50', and have it quickly flip to snap out corners.

Summary:
The Mutiny is golden in situations where there is a defined hook spot downlane, whether by pattern design or pattern wear. I love the fact that it gets so easily through the front part of the lane while retaining a lot of energy to unleash at the pins. Once again, the feeling of knowing this ball is going to get back from 5th arrow for me is huge. This will be an awesome ball for league bowlers, especially those with higher rev rates and/or those whose house patterns are medium to medium-dry in volume. If you're a serious tournament bowler and needing a ball to be able to move inside with as the lanes breakdown then the Mutiny should give you exactly what you're looking for. From league to tournaments, regardless of the pattern, I can't imagine traveling without this ball in my bag!

DV8 describes the Endless Nightmare as: “featuring our new Class 2L Reactive coverstock combined with the Marauder Core to provide a ball motion that is extremely clean through the front and mid-lane with a strong backend flip on medium to light oil lane conditions.”
I have drilled 2 Marauder Mutinys so far.  The first I used a layout of 60 x 3 ½ x 30 and left the surface out of box.  The second I drilled at 40 x 4 ¾ x 65 with a surface of 2000 in an attempt to replace my favorite original Reckless at the same layout and surface.
If I had to describe the Marauder Mutiny in one word, that word would be “versatile”.  These 2 balls are Night and Day different from each other.  I was pleasantly surprised by that.
The first Mutiny (60 x 3 ½ x 30 OOB) is an ultimate “skid flip” reaction.  While testing this ball I compared it to a Green/White Misfit with the same layout but at 4000 surface.  I got lined up with the Misfit, and then threw the same line with the Mutiny.  What I saw made me laugh.  The Mutiny “squirted” past the breakpoint of the Misfit, which made me immediately think “oh gosh hook!”  And then my eyes lit up with I left a high 9 pin!!!  All I could do was laugh.  This ball is so long, and so strong off the corner it was literally like someone kicked it. If you are looking for a ball to get clean through the heads (or midlane for that matter) this is the ball for you.  This ball is so clean it is almost scary, but when it makes it’s move, it does not quit.  With my high ball speed, balls like this typically don’t work for me, but the Mutiny has no problem recovering.
The second Mutiny (40 x 4 ¾ x 65 2000) could not be any more different from the first.  This ball reads the midlane very strong, rolls smooth of the breakpoint, and does not quit through the pins.  This ball is so strong in fact, I could never truly get lined up with it on the Typical House Shot.  It read the lane a good 4-5 feet earlier on the lane than Mutiny 1, and hooked an overall 10 boards more.  Mutiny 2 had no trouble handling the oil in the middle of the house shot.
Having drilled 2 Mutinys, and seeing such varied reactions, I think the Marauder Mutiny would be a great ball for anyone looking for a versatile ball they can use in multiple bowling centers and oil patterns.  If you are looking for a new ball this year, don’t look past the Marauder Mutiny.

I have had this ball for about 4 weeks now and have gotten to throw it on many different conditions.  I was experimenting with the vector layout system when I drilled this up.  I was curious to see the results.  Lay out on vls is 5 1/2x 4 1/4 with a 1 7/8" pin buffer.  Havent figured out what that equates to on dual angle.  Anyways this ball on a house shot for me is great a little later on in a set.  Early on it forces me to play a little further right than I would like and makes me deal with other traffic on the lanes.  Now after the transition phase this ball really shines.  It does as DV8 advertises.  It gets down the lane with ease and flips.  It is between my diva and green/white misfit as far as overall hook.  On the house shot I used oob surface.  I used this on pba bear pattern.  I had a lot of success with this ball on bear.  Success on that pattern being relative since it is flat.  Usually a skid/flip ball I do not like on flatter patterns.  I took the surface to 2000 and it really smoothed out the roll.  Very controllable and predictable.  Now when the lanes get really dry this ball does not seem to overreact down lane.  What happens for me is the ball burns up in the dry and comes off smooth almost giving me a hook stop reaction.  It still carried fairly well even with it hooking out.  DV8 big thumbs up on this one.  It is filling a great gap in the DV8 lineup.

I am left hander.  I throw 16lbs.  I am a stroker
Ball Surface:  Out of the box surface with a light 2000 abrolon pad
Layout: 1st one:  Pin above Ring Finger, and CG Kicked Out.  3-4" Pin
2nd One:  Pin under Ring Finger, and CG Kicked Out.  3-4" Pin
Type:  Cheetah, Los Angelas, Chamelion

The Marader Mutiny is another Terrific ball from DV8. If you need a ball for light to medium oil pattern, then this is the perfect ball for you.  It is really clean thru the frontront of the lane and is really smooth off the spot and this ball still hits the pocket extremely hard!  I have shot 1-800 with this ball so far.  This ball will let you keep your sholders square and play up the boards.

Likes:  This ball lets me stay outside and play up the boardss, which is what I love to play.  This ball is a predictable ball which is very important to me.  I don't like a ball that I don't know what it is doing.  Keep the game really simple.  I have drilled 2 of these balls, 1-pin up with the CG kicked out, and 1-pin below with the CF kicked out. Both ball have a 3-4 inch pin.  If your Misfit is not enough, then you go to the Mutiny, and it will give you that extra power.

Dislikes:  This ball is not for Heavy Oil Condition.  This is the only thing that is wrong with this ball.

I recommend that you will want one of these balls in your bag.  I have thown this ball a lot so far, and it has come be be one of my favorite balls right now.  So for the price you can't go wrong!  So get to your Pro Shop and pick up a Murauder Mutiny today!!

Marauder Mutiny
Drilling 60 x 4 ½” x 35
OOB
This ball I find to be very versatile.  I thought this ball was going to give me a skid flip motion, but it didn’t. This ball gave me a arcing motion down lane, but was a ball that definently was easy to get down the lane. I believe this will be a good benchmark ball for alot of bowlers as it is not super aggressive, but it gives you that clean motion through the entire lane. Skids through the front part of the lane with ease, and has a quick transition in the mids, but off the spot down lane it has a smooth stron arcing motion. This ball will still allow you too move left as needed. This ball will be easily adaptable to a variety of lane conditions by just altering the surface.  This ball is one of the smoothest balls in my bag now, a wide variety of bowlers will be able to put this ball in there bag. If you are looking for control and predictability, then this is the ball you want in the bag.

A Special Thanks goes out to Ron Bragg

Comments:
The Marauder line is one of my favorite lines that I have thrown. Original was nice hybrid even roll with backend, madness was strong and smooth and this ball is even better than I thought it was going to be. When I first saw the ball videos and heard about this ball I thought it may go to long for me, personally with my lower rev rate, but I was wrong. I put one of my favorite drillings and this ball is very predictable even with the pearl cover. When comparing this to the original Marauder the Mutiny is around 2-3 boards less and compared to the Madness it’s around 5 boards less. With the right drilling this ball is a go to and will fit in anyone’s line up.

The DV8 Marauder Mutiny is a ball I am personally very excited about.  The original Marauder and Marauder Madness provided a good 1-2 punch, but with the addition of the Mutiny, a bowler can carry 3-midline priced balls and get high performance to cover a variety of conditions.

The Mutiny is long and strong as advertised.  We went with a 5 1/2 in pin and a 45 degree VAL angle.  Appreciate the effort from Xclusive Pro Shop to take time to punch it out and acquire the desired goal.

This ball is best when the heads are a little roasty and you need clean projection and plenty of angularity down lane.  There is little sacrifice at the pins when this ball corners.  On a typical league shot (41 ft USBC pattern) this ball allowed me to play square early with devastating entry angle.  As the friction developed on a 5-Man Team league night, I was able to migrate into the nether region of the lane (4th & 5th arrow) with ease and without sacrificing pin carry.

Quite honestly, this is probably the best 3-piece arsenal for your dollar that can cover the widest range of conditions out there.  You have heavy oil with the Madness, Smooth predictable hybrid with the Original Marauder and long and strong with the Mutiny.

I welcome any particular questions regarding the ball or for those looking for advice on putting together an arsenal around any particular ball.

Andy,

I'm a new bowler and I recently bought the Brutal Nightmare. I love the ball and I get a nice amount of hook which I like. I'm having issues getting my spares when the 10 pin due to the amount of hook I get so I was looking into the Marauder Mutiny because I'm thinking I'm gonna get a little less hook. Is the Mutiny a good ball for that? Any suggestions would be well appreciated as I would like to bowl DV8 primarily. My ball speed is typically 15-16mph and I have a good amount of rev.
