WOW!!
This ball is a keeper for those lacking something between the Barrage and the Vendetta Pearl!

It actually matched up really well to my Original Crisis. I drilled it 5 x 5 and it allowed me to make a move that I was lacking when the Original Crisis was to strong. Clears the heads nice and drives well!!

Great going Dynothane!!!

The Crisis pearl is very clean thru the heads and holds its energy for the back. Great ball for house track shots. Stays in the tube. I had to move right 5 boards from my regular area to get the ball to the pocket. Still it was almost impossible to get it high. Almost always recovered when shot missed out. It acts like it will also be a good ball for PBA and sports condition shots. I will let you know later. BOB

I recently won this ball in a drawing. I was going to trade it since I know little about Dynothane balls. Lucky for me I kept it though, its a great ball. I had it drilled up with the pin around 2 o'clock cg under palm needed a ball for dryer lanes but I was not getting it here, but I got much more. It needs oil in the heads and is very forgiving. I rolled it up around 10 out to 5 and it would go long then when it hit the dry it went left, Not snappy but smooth and hard turn to the pocket. Some carry down was OK but I wouldnt try it on heavy oil. When the lanes started to break down small adjustments were all that was needed. After getting used to the ball in a couple of nights I felt good with it and shot a 233,259,215, my first 700+ in years. For the money, I will buying another 1 or 2 just to back up this one when I wear this one out. This is a great ball with exceptional carry. I think I could be a DYNO-Nut with this one

This review is well overdue...so here it goes:

Dynothane was nice enough to send myself a Crisis Pearl to test out, back when they came out:

Original Ball Specs: 2” pin / 2.5 oz of top weight
Drilling: 5” pin x 4” CG with pin 3.5” above midline and a weight hole on my axis point.
Style: High rev player with a 12.5” track circumference and a high track (5-1/2” x 1-3/8”)

Condition #1 (ball in box condition):
What could be considered 2nd shift on our THS…surface is synthetic heads with wood backends.  This condition is typically a very hard turning condition...especially on the pair that we were bowling on (end of the house).  With most of my other equipment I was forced inside of 3rd arrow.  With the Crisis pearl I was able to square up on the lane and pipe it up 8 with a little swing.  The ball a nice late break to the pocket, but not overly violent.  I did find that the ball was a little oil sensitive on this condition, but I would attribute that to the oil pushed down the lane and the hard pearlized surface of the ball.  On this condition a drilling with the pin below my fingers and the surface scuffed would've worked a whole lot better.

Condition #2 (ball still in box condition):
Utilized at previous NEBA tournament on the few practice pairs that they allocated to us.  These pairs where absolutely flying and turning very early.  On really dry lanes I usually have success with an old Lightning Flash of mine with the pin about 2.5 away from my axis and the cg towards the palm.  With this ball I can usually get enough axis tilt to help the ball push down the lane and the drilling makes sure it doesn't over react.  Well on this pattern I was forced too deep for the ball to work well.  I pulled out the Crisis Pearl and WOW!!  Ball cleared the heads beautifully...like they weren't burnt at all.  The ball then made a great transition and turn into the hole.  I was really surprise at how consistent the ball was as most of my equipment with this drilling would be violent and reaction too early.

I really don't see this ball being a great league ball for most...unless they have flying backends, no heads, tons of hand, etc.  Tournament guys will LOVE this ball on late sets though.

Ball: Crisis Pearl

Drilled Specs: # 15, 3-1/4” pin, 4 x 4-1/2 no balance hole, pin down.

Bowler Specs: 15 mph, PAP 5-1/2”> ½ up, 17* axis tilt, 45-60* rotation at release.

Oil Pattern: Standard house crown, (wall) 18 to 50 units inside of the 20”s, at 15’, 42 ft buff.

Preferred line: 34-15-8 @ 42 feet, breakpoint.

First impression of the Pearl was very shiny, probably going to be weak finishing ball. (based off core specs, and not being familiar with the DT coverstocks) Not being familiar with DT covers I put the pin down to help it read earlier to avoid any over under. The CP has natural length, with more continuation than I had anticipated. The CP begins its track late in the mids with a gentle arc from 38ft to the pocket. An excellent control ball for a drier shot. Even bringing it out in game three, I can move right 4 boards, use the same target and walk it into the pocket with plenty of pop. A big banana arc, very predictable motion and above average carry and easy to adjust with as the shot transitions. It reminds me of the Storm Big Hit Pearl  only in red. Excellent dryer lane ball, putting the pin down for me helped overcome any squirty reaction I might have seen. An excellent drier lane ball, not a desert ball however, too much cover too strong for the scorched  shot.

My Crisis Pearl was drilled 5" from my CG for dry lanes and sport shots. Ball really has a big backend, surprised me a bit, ball works good on dry lanes but the backend is still too strong for this shot, but find a little oil and sit back and watch one of the best kept secrets in the dynothane line destroy the pins. the crisis Pearl hits super hard for a pearl and the carry is terrific. On THS go up 5 and crush the pins. Super ball, I find myself pulling this ball out of the bag first, just love it. Thanks Billy for this pin crusher in disguise.
