Dynothane
« on: October 07, 2016, 10:20:10 AM »
Azo's Facebook changed its name to Dynothane...

Does this mean bowlers Mart is going to release dynothane balls too?

The last I thought, ebonite owned the brand.

If u Facebook search dynothane bowling you'll see what I'm talking about. Multiple posts about new equipment, etc.

Website is getting revamped too.

In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Nostalgia factor is cool but does EBI really need/want 5 brands??

I think Ebonite is just pouring, I don't think they have an ownership stake

HUNH?
Has Ebonite who owns DT since the Columbia takeover in 2007-ish, stopped selling DT balls overseas??

When Ebo took over, Columbia and Track were continued as USA brands and Dynothane balls were sold only overseas, as far as I know.

I suspect that when the recent spate of AZO balls did not sell, Bowlers Mart asked Ebo to make some DT balls for them to sell here in the USA. I believe Bowlers Mart, which as of right now, seems to be the only internet seller marketing Dynothane balls, is the instigator in all this, but I could be wrong.

https://www.bowlersmart.com/bowling-gear/bowling-balls/dyno-thane

You know it is what it is. A fringe market. I myself bought all the azo balls have multiple award scores with the cheater and the outbreak pearl. They made some really nice pieces it just sad more didn't try them they were high quality at a low price point. The outbreak pearl is hands down the most versatile ball in my bag. I myself am going to try these new dynothane cause like the azos I love the cores that they are using.

What I have noticed with the bowling ball industry is a lack of patience! They put out three new balls.....and if they don't light a spark in 6 months....they put out three or four brand new ones. It's crazy!!

Most people don't have the disposable income to buy new balls every three to four months; plus the competition for attention from multiple different companies, means that there will be some very good pieces that slide by, unnoticed by the general bowling populace. By the time I heard that AZO was back up and running, and selling balls again.......they started to disappear from the marketplace again!

I don't know if this just speaks to poor marketing on the company's part, or that the "word-of-mouth" success just moves too slowly for the industry's desires! but it is a sad state of affairs, overall.

Dynothane was a pretty well-known, and popular company in their day. let's see how long they last this time!
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

Most bowlers want new technology.  If a ball isn't a sales success within the first few months, then chances are it won't ever be.  Something newer from someone else will more than likely pique the interests instead, because it is newer.  Not necessarily better, just newer.

Bowlers, in general, aren't even smart enough to know if a ball is new technology or rehashed cover/core combination. They want every new ball to read their mind and be absolutely perfect on any condition they throw it on. If it doesn't do that out of the bag, they consider it garbage. They ignore what the manufacturer and what the pro shop tell them about the ball and for what condition it was designed.

We've all seen bowlers try to use a No Rules on a condition where a plastic ball rolls out in the heads and try to use a Rhino on a 50 foot, 40 ml flood and both bowlers will insist their ball is piece of garbage, without realizing they're raging idiots.

Totally agree.  Bowlers perceive just released to new technology, thus best on the market.

Bowlersmart is licensing the name Dyno-Thane from Ebonite and AZO from Storm in an attempt to create their own manufacturing push.  I was a fan of some of the Dyno-Thane cores in the past and if they do it right it could have some traction.  I'm thinking that since the Bowlersmart Pro shops are fairly concentrated in the south (mostly FL and the southeast)  and a few other pockets of the US they are going to struggle getting out of their footprint of geographies.

But so far, the cores involved seem to be Ebonite family cores. The Spark ball uses an older Hammer core. Not sure where the new Vendetta's core comes from: possibly an Arson.

Good catch; well, one off the Nail cores.
There have been about 20 different variations of "The Nail" starting back in the 80s.
I think this one was in the Nail Titanium,
http://www.hammerbowling.com/products/retired-balls/nail-titanium
and the Nail Smoke n Fire
http://www.hammerbowling.com/products/retired-balls/nail-smoke-and-fire
and I"m sure it was in another Hammer ball that I can't find right now.
Hmmm, maybe the Doom?

Early reports on tje new Vendetta is that it's a very strong backending piece. I loved a lot of the Soaker poured Dynothane stuff and the Crisis series. I would love to try one.

Yeah it's the doom core, which was featured in the nail line most recently.

I am excited to see that this new licensed brand is on multiple online retailers instead of just bowlermart dot com. AZO didn't stand a chance just being hidden there.

Getting sick of half hearted marketing attempts lol

To me this is nothing other than EBI cores. If your bringing the brand back use some of Dynothanes old successfu cores back.I had my first 800 in the 90s with the XTC.Great ball would love to find another.Just another attempt for Bowlersmart to make some fast cash like they do with the Vibes.I bought into the AZO and bought a Cheater on the cheap.Seemed like a Storm ball to me.Nothing special.

My favorite ball of all time is the DynoThane Concept XXXtra, made by Columbia. I still have one 15 lb. left.

Hey, this is just Bowlers Mart trying to get into the game. Remember that the development of a new core cost, if I recall correctly, about $50,000.00. That's a HUGE cost up front.

Besides, many start-up companies have used a manufacturer's core and cover combination that was never used by the manufacturer. Remember also that many, heck, most manufacturers use some cores for over 15 years; so I can't fault the "new" Dynothane for starting on a known base. Hopefully, balls like the new Vendetta and the new Spark are also using new combinations of core and cover; so that it's just not a renamed ball from Ebonite's or Hammer's past.
(These cores are from Hammer's repertoire; I have no idea what the coverstocks are or from whose line they came.)

I'd prefer to give any new start-up company the benefit of the doubt. No need to commit to them until you see if they have something useful for you when you need it. It is, after all, an Ebonite company. They and their subsidiaries appear to have survived and thrived in this terrible economy.

Looks like BowlerX.com is also handling Dynothane balls. They're another company I have no problems dealing with. I've made many safe, good deals with them.
