Mini review: Thing
« on: February 07, 2004, 11:54:40 PM »
I wanted to give a mini-review on my new toy Thing. I traded my Vendetta to a fellow ballreviews member for his Thing, as I have wanted to try one for awhile. The best trade I have EVER made! I only had a chance to throw one practice game during the week. I wasn't sure if I was comfortable enough to throw it on league, but I decided to throw it on my Saturday night league anyway. I'm sure glad I did! I went 245 (7 miss, 9 spare, 9 open) and finished out with 9 in-a-row, 237 and 192. I ended up shooting my highest set on league 674 and my first 9 bagger on league too! Not too bad for a ball I’ve only thrown once before and only for one game in practice.  It totally demolishes pins! If I got anywhere near the pocket, I knew I could go sit down (strike baby!). I also picked up an Element, but haven’t really thrown it yet. The lane pattern is a house shot about 43’ long, pretty dry outside of 10 with lots of hold in the middle. The ball matched up perfectly for me with the reaction it was giving me. The Thing reaction was a VERY strong flip down lane and hard arc to the pocket. I was standing about 20 with my feet, throwing out to 10. The Thing made the turn every time and just flat out crushed.

It’s drilled: 4 X 4 with a weight hole on the pap and still has the box finish on it.

I’ll write a full review after I get a chance to bowl more with it, same for the Element.

When in doubt, Throw it out. Go buy a whole new arsenal!
