Pure Energy

Ball NPS Score: Not Available
Now you can cover almost any condition with Dyno-thane''s Energy line. For the first time ever, the lab guys have figured out a way to combine Particles with the long-lasting Soaker ATCâ„¢ Coverstock. The addition of a dense Stabilizer Ball to the center of the POP (Polar Opposite Powerblocks)â„¢ core in conjunction with the stronger coverstock gives outstanding control in heavier oiled conditions.

This is definitely an overdue review...

Dynothane was nice enough to send myself a Pure Energy to test out:

Original Ball Specs: 3.25” pin / 3.5 oz of top weight
Drilling: 5-1/4” pin x 4-3/4” CG with pin 3-3/4 above midline with a 19/32" extra hole drilled 2" deep on my axis midline. Ending weights were 1 oz top weight, 1/2 oz side weight and 1/16 finger weight
Style: High rev player with a 12.5” track circumference and a high track (5-1/2” x 1-3/8”)

Initial Test Conditions (ball in box condition):
Med / Heavy…Fresh house shot on synthetic heads and wood backends that were resurfaced two months ago. & Med oil on second shift shot…same lanes (Oil to ~34' / buff to ~40).

Multiple angles of attack where possible depending on speed, hand position and finger lift…Typically start around 4th arrow out to 10 and move left as the heads start to go away.  Have had success playing as deep as around 28/29 at the arrows.  On a slightly higher volume of oil I was able to play closer to 3rd arrow and actually had to move right and tighten up the line slightly when carry down occurred.  I really would like to try polish on this ball, but the reaction as is just so predictable that I don't want to mess with it.

Great color combinations / logo color match on this one.  After testing the Sniper I have really found a new love in particle equipment (on the right shot) and this ball continues this love affair.  In some respects this ball reminds me the Things Lives in what it can accomplish deeper in the oil as compared to my other equipment...a great midlane read, aggressive turn and versatility.  The ball plays about 4-5 boards stronger than the sniper and when the lanes are correct I've had great success with the two as a 1-2 punch.  With the amount of flare this ball gets it's not as susceptible to carry down as the sniper was.

Overall Feelings:  The Pure Energy is Dynothane’s latest release for Medium Heavy / Heavy oil conditions.  With the addition of particles to their already wildly successful Soaker cover stock they have created a ball that will allow bowlers to effectively read the mid-lanes on heavier patterns or low friction synthetic lanes, while the flare from the original Energy’s core will create devastating power at the pins and the enough power to cut through carry down.  When combined with their previous High Energy and Vendetta Sniper releases a bowler would have a very formidable array of tools to attack heavier oil conditions.

Follow-Up:  Since my initial review findings I have had good success at tournaments with this ball.  On full synthetic lanes with heavier oil patterns this ball has really shined for me.  In the past I would be forced to move right and have less area to work with.  The Pure Energy allows me to move back into the lane a little bit and still have a ball that is strong enough to make the turn in the soup so to speak.  Just a wonderful ball by Dynothane!!

Most Impressive
Lane Conditions: Medium-Heavy Oil
Typical Conditions: House Shot
What part of the lane did you play? Third Arrow
Did the ball track out? Normal
Weight of bowling ball: 15
Surface of bowling ball: Factory/Box
What grit was the surface of the ball? 800
Likes: Hit
Midlane Read
Versatility for a Heavy Oil ball
Dislikes: Absolutely none so far...except mine looks kinda girly

Had this ball for about a week now, and could not be more impressed.

Had this baby drilled up as just to the left of stacked leverage with a high pin to save get some more length since it is a low rg particle/resin ball. First few games were played on left over surfaces that were all messed up with carrydown in the back and dried up heads....obviously not the absolute best condition for the ball, but surprisingly I was still able to effectively use this ball.

The ball gets into a roll early (especially on the scorched head conditions) but still managed to keep an extra reserve of energy for the backends, where it totally ignores any and all carrydown thanks to it's super tacky 800 grit particle/Soaker coverstock.

Actually managed to put up a 218 and a 234 on these conditions that the ball is obviously not meant for...with some polish and a length drilling I bet you could actually use one of these things for any sort of lane condition.

Moving on, I finally got to bowl on a fresh shot for league on Tuesday...All I have to say is WOW! This has to be my favorite DT ball up to this point. Extremely readable and great recovery back into the pocket...did not miss to the right of the pocket one time all night, and left only two tenpins. All other pocket hits carried, and I shot my high game and series for this league so far with a decent 667 with a high game of 254.

Gotta love Dyno-Thane...now to get my hands on a Centrifugal Mass and a ZR40!

One word describes this ball based on my layout......Smooth.    I am able to read exactly what the ball is going to do at about 35-40 feet consistantly.   This is key for me in order to adjust.   The ball cam with a long pin.  ball is drilled with an extra hole.   works great on drier conditions.   This is a very versitile ball that can be layed out in many different ways.  Best use is in its out of box condition.   This is my key ball in the middle stages of competition.

My Pure Energy was drilled to give me an early roll and arcing backend, no snap. Ball does just that, perfect. I had a hard time at first as I was trying to swing this ball and it wouldn't come back with any power, The owner of the proshop Big AL's reminded me of the drill pattern and suggested I should play inside from 20 to 10, WOW this ball is an instant monster, smooth power arc and excellent carry. Ball works perfect!
