Coverstock: Aggressive “Big Daddy”™ reactive resin with ChromaFlair™ particle

Box Finish: 1200-grit sanded, then polished with Factory Finish Polish

Color: Gradiant shades of Cyan to Purple with white pin and logos

Core: Xenex core, a medium RG, medium flare BOMB core design

BOMB Location: 6-3/4 inches from the pin in the BOMB's Down position (on the same side of the pin as the CG).

BOMB Strength: .014

Flare Potential: Medium to high

Length: 16.25 (Ebonite's scale of 1 to 30, earliest to most) with factory box finish

Overall Hook: 18.50 (Ebonite's scale of 1 to 30, least to most) with factory box finish

I picked up one of these last week.  I wanted a ball for Ultra-Dry Lanes or Super Strong backends.  I'm a 200+ avg with 15-16 mph and a lot of revs.  I went with the weakest drill listed on the website with the pin on my PAP and the bomb almost in the center of my grip.  I also have a Reaper 2 drilled the same way.  This ball is so smooth.  It does not hook a lot, but carries very very well.  It gets about 1-2 feet of extra length than my Reaper 2 and hooks 1-2 boards more on fresh backends.  Once their was a little carrydown, the Illusion lost some of it's backend finish were my Reaper 2 still was making the same move as the fresh.  Even on carrydown, the Illusion never quit carrying.

If you want a ball where you can hit it full boar and not get any over-reaction on dry backends, or dry lanes, I'd give this ball a try.  The pro shop guy said 2 guys ordered the ball after watching me throw this one in league this weekend.

I was pleasantly surprised with this new addition to the Optyx line.  This ball provides a great amount of length down the lane and gives a strong, controllable motion down the lane.  I have one of these balls with a 5 1/2" pin with an extra hole and this ball allows me to play on top of the oil line, even when there isn't much of an oil line there.  This ball struck immediately out of the box to the tune of 824.  This ball is a great complement to a shiny black v2.  It will provide a little more length when the v2's start up a little early.

Drilled a 2 1/2" pin with 3 top CG in palm and ring finger drilled through the pin.  Med-Fast speed, decent revs, 45 deg tilt.  THIS BALL BACKEND UNCONTROLLABLY ON A HOUSE SHOT 7 TO 7 and 38-40 FT oil.  I had no control of this ball what so ever.  I drilled only because most of the reviews said this ball was TAME in the backend... BS!  I had to flatten my hand, move right 10 boards, and fire up 15 to 5, then I strung a six bagger.  It hits good, but it is made for the low rev players who want length and strong backend with big hit.
I can't see how any high rev player would use this ball on a sport shot.  It would snap way to much and too far down the lane, especially on the 45ft patterns.

3/19 - OK, now that it absorbed some oil, it is a bit tamer.  I shot 240-279-196.  The 196 was when the lanes broke down and I lost control of it.  It's an OK ball. B+

awesome looking ball, but that's where the good review stops.

drilled 5x4, it hits like a wet diaper.

stay away from this overpriced toy, unless you dont care about money.

Hi, I justed wanted tell everyone that my Father Joe McKerlie Sr. bowled a 300 game last night 3-27-2003 with this ball he had just bought , His first game was a 238 then 300 then 233 not bad for a 77 year old man, i am thinking about getting one of these for myself, it is a good ball for a person with slower ball speed around 14 mph,with good fingers & the lanes with a good backend, thanks for reading this

There has got to be a place for this ball, It rolls so hard and revs so easy.   Haven't thrown one, but I'm getting interested by watching some who have it.   Doesn't seem to like oil.  NO flip, just hard rolling arc.  Wouldn't be surprised to see this core come out this fall with some different coverstock.   The core seems so strong, it may not care what cover is on it.   If I wanted something to go up and at'em, would get this ball.

I thought this ball was supposed to be good for when the lanes start to dry, forget it, this ball arcs very very hard on the backend, i love it for medium to heavier oil, not good for dry though, great ball.

I bought this ball yesterday, had it drilled for extra length, sharp breakpoint.
It doesn't hook like crazy but it hits like a rocket, it always take out the 5-pin (and of course the other nine )!
No over-reaction, stable through the fronts and late snap reaction just before and in the pins.
This ball won't show you heaven on heavy oiled lanes, but if you can find a drier track, hit it with your illusion and your opponent will lose all their illusions of beating you!

This ball doesn't hook a bunch, but it hits like no other. Its great for lanes with brocken-down oil and drier conditions. It is also awesome for any sport shots. I shot 836 with mine on a sport shot with 42 feet of oil. Great ball!!!

I just couldn't live without this ball so I drilled up another one. This one more aggressive. I drilled it up the same way as my Hole Finder Pearl with the pin just below the bottom outside corner of the ring finger with a 2 inch pin and the cg strait down and a hair to the outside of the layout. It reminds me a lot of the Hole Pounder Pearl, the ball doesn't stop moving on the lane. It is smoother on the backend than the HPP and just like the first Illusion I had, still hits like nothing else out there.
