Ebonite for dry lanes? Thinking RSX300 or smashtime pearl

Im looking for something that will REALLY get thru the heads, & just mildy roll up on the back end, even in dry.  

Im thinking a smashtime pearl with a 6" p2p, CGnomadda

My other option is a RSX300 with the pin over the bridge, or maybe over the middle finger(5.5 to 6" from pap) with the MB in my track.


Im not really a fan of any of the tornados, the only "dry lane" ball i would consider would be a whirlwind, but im really looking at the 2 stated above.

What do u guys think?

Both of those would be way too strong for what I'd call dry lanes.  Look at the Ice or Black Ice.  The Whirlwind might work, but based on your post, the Ice series sounds like what you want.

Black Ice for dryish lanes. For really dry, get a Tornado.

Sounds like you already have your mind made up.

There's an awful lot of room between a Smashtime Pearl/RSX300 and plastic.  Those are going to have a lot more back end than what you say you want.  I throw my XXXL more often than I like for strikes, so I'm pretty familliar with medium, light, and DRY.

I would have to agree with Strider....the Smashtime Peal would be way too strong for what you are looking for. I have a friend that i bowl with on thursday`s...He has quite a bit of hand.....for drier conditions he uses the black XXXL by Lane#1....ive seen it in action. Handles med. dry to extreme dry very well

6 x 5.5 SR300 or Smahtime pearl...giving you room to get after the ball. If you use the sr300 give it a light compound finish.

If you want something for light, then the Black Ice. Something for med/light, Smashtime Pearl.

Go with a whirlwind with a 5-5.5 p2p, I have one and it is very smooth on the dry stuff, unless its toast and then its a clear diamond for me

I agree with the Medium-dry would be Black Ice, total dry i would do with a Tornado Pearl

I bought a SmashTime pearl. I wanted it to go longer and smoother down lane. I bowl on wood lanes and I ordered with a 4" pin. I was amazed at how well this ball handles. I have throw the angular one, big one, radical inferno, apogee, and the one. None of those balls have the consistent reaction with smooth action through the heads, and also a controllable amount of backend. It's not a snap straight left kind of ball, but more of a smooth controlled arcing ball. I am very very pleased with this. The reason I wanted it in the first place was because halfway through the second game, our lanes get really dry. The ebonite website says the ball goes basically straight, I have a high rev-rate and throw 17.5 mph, so I assumed I could get at least a small amount of hook out of it. Now, this is the first ball out of my bag each night. This ball rocks my world!! I just ordered a TNV and am waiting to see how that will do. But if you get this ball with a longer pin, you will be amazed

I know this is an Ebonite thread, and pretty much all I throw is Ebonite, but I recently drilled up a Brunswick Power Groove Dry/R, and the ball does exactly what Kinalyx says he is looking for, and that's really get through the heads and roll up mildly at the back end. I don't know of any other reactive that hooks less than the Dry/R - it hooks way less than my raspberry/green Tornado - and to get any less hook I think you would have to go to plastic.
