GB2 or GB3
« on: August 05, 2018, 12:41:17 PM »
I have pretty much decided to try another Ebonite ball, just purchased the Cyclone red white blue for a senior league and really do like it. I have been trying to decide between the GB2 and GB3 so I thought I would try to get you guys input. If you own both of these balls and had to give up 1 of them which one would you keep and why. Appreciate any help you guys could give me.

I would go GB3. My GB2s are getting a little longer and lazier over the years. GB2 is more of an all time great transition ball. The more rev dominant guys get more use out of GB2 on the fresh because the ball is very responsive to what you do to it at the bottom. You hit it harder for more shape down the lane. GB3 has more built in pop downlane.

The GB3 reads a little sooner and is 2-3 boards overall more motion, the GB2 is a fine piece as well. cant go wrong with either..

Agreed. Get the GB3. Will give you greater separation (in terms of cover strength) between it and the Cyclone than between the GB2 and the Cyclone.

Between the two, the GB3 will require more oil than the GB2.  If you don't see a lot of oil I could see the GB2 being plenty of ball, especially if you have slower speed.  The shapes will be different so you will have that separation which may be all you need on THS.  Just keep up the surfaces.

I have both. It comes down to the conditions you see most often. More oil, then the GB3. If drier or second shift, then the GB2.

If I had to pick one I'd go with the GB2 and adjust the surface as needed. It's a very versatile ball.

If I didn’t have all the benchmarks I currently have, this ball would be on my purchase list...

It'll definitely be interesting to see how the GB3 Pearl fits
