Help with Mission Setup
« on: September 13, 2010, 10:06:17 AM »
Set up an Ebonite Mission for the wife with the following specs:
Ball came with 2 1/2 inch pin to cg, 2 ounce top weight.
Wife has average speed (14 - 15 mph) stroker, 200+ average last ten years, PAP = 5 1/8 over, 3/4 up.
Following recommendations from drill sheet for drlling #2, placed pin 4" from PAP at 55 degrees from grip centerline, pin to PAP at 45 degrees from VAL. PSA 4 1/2" from PAP. 1" alance hole on VAL 2" down from PAP to zero side weight (45 degrees to thumb). Pic of her ball as drilled:

Very disappointed with reaction first time out. Ball labored to pick up a roll and when it did flip it went quickly into forward roll with little punch. Left ten pins consistantly. Rolled two other benchmark balls at the same time so this was definately not a function of the lane conditions.

On this video, the ball is set up very similar to my wife's, and the reaction we see is evident on shots 5 and 6, leaving ten pins. The difference is her reaction was even weaker than in this example:

What did I do wrong, and what can I do to make it right. We were both expecting strong continuation from this ball with this layout. She is going to try changing the surface from the 2000 OOB to 4000, hoping to help it store a little more energy, but honestly we have little hope of this helping. I assume we will have to plug and redrill, and ask for suggestions on what will give us the midlane roll and continuation through the pins that most reviewers claim to get with the Mission.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.
