Purple Sparkle Predator and Shooter XL thoughts...WOW!!
« on: July 16, 2003, 10:14:22 AM »
I just bought these yesterday, drilled them tonight and threw them both on an extreme wet-dry shot.  The dry being from 6 out on both sides with the middle pretty much soaked and carried down a little.

Predator Purple Sparkle:  This is the same ball as the Jungle Green, drilled 4 1/2 x 2 weighthole on VAL.  This thing gets through the heads very clean with a hard rev in the midlane.  Boy does this thing conserve energy because no matter how early I sent it out into the bounce it came back hard but didn't lose any energy when it finished.  I thought for sure I was going to leave some pocket flat 10s or a dreaded pocket 8-10 but the way this ball keeps continuing on the backend the finish was spectacular.  I threw my first shot standing 20, sending the ball from 12-4 and went high flush with a messenger taking out the 9 pin.  Then I moved to 24 and sent it 18-8 and the ball came in pretty  flat since it stayed in the oil line but the hit was anything but flat, carried all ten, then I moved 27 and sent the ball through 18 to the 5 board at about 35 feet and since the ball reads so well in the midlane it was getting into its roll before it got to the breakpoint and that extra dry seemed to give it even more angle to the pocket.  The last shot I stood 30(which is extremely rare for me) lowered the speed down to about 15mph and bellied it out all the way to the 7 board at the breakpoint and the ball finished even better.  Attribute it to easy conditions with dry outsides, but this was the only ball I had with me that I was able to play so many different lines with and still hit the pocket.

Shooter XL-  This has to be the best looking ball ever made.  That light Joker purple really stands out on the lanes and boy is this thing smooth.  It doesn't cover alot of boards at all(I have it drilled pin under and between the fingers, CG kicked away from the midline 1 inch and the PSA 1 1/2 inch to the right of the thumb, no weighthole).  I had to play the outside(going about 10-5) to get this ball in the dry.  The way this ball clears the heads and midlane is a definate sight to see.  It flares about 4 inches but saves all of its flare for the last 20-25 feet.  It is so extra smooth on the back that lighter patterns don't stand a chance.  Since the outsides were so bone dry I definately thought that it would square up immediately but it completely ignored the burnt outsides and coasted to the breakpoint.  This thing too finishes Awesome, it's late angle entry had me sending messengers all over the place which is a pretty rare occurance for me.  I'd say 80% of league bowlers will overlook this ball since pretty much the majority of all bowlers want to see something hook off the lane.  This ball doesn't do that.  It is very long, extremely smooth yet mellow and gives you a great read in playing the dry parts of the lane.

The purple predators are hard to find but it is the same as the Jungle Green.  I just had such a fun time throwing these two that I had to tell you guys about them.  Look for a demo day in your area and get out there and bowl with these things.  If you don't buy one you'll at least want to see the reaction and experience two unique balls.
