Ball weight--16 lbs
Pin length--3 inches
Top weight--3.01 ounces
Drilling pattern--I had wanted a pin under with the Cg at 45*,but my driller was concerned that the ball would burn up.So we modified it a little.Ending pin is 3 3/4" from my PAP and the Cg is 3 3/8.Mb marking is to the right of and slightly below the thumb
Coverstock---after throwing the ball on a fresh shot,I was leaving flat tens and light seven pins.Back to the spinner to take the cover down to 2000 Abralon with a little polish.

Now this ball really shined.It still clears the heads,but when it finds the dry,it makes a strong move to the pocket.Shots that miss to the right come back easily and send messengers across to remove the ten pin. Flush shots send all ten into the pit.
Shots that are in the carrydown in the late 2nd game do seem to wiggle and not finish,leaving flat ten pins.Here a speed reduction and a move to the right seem to get the ball back to carrying again.
As with the newer balls,I do clean the cover with rubbing alcohol after a three game set,and it has gotten several Dawn/hot water baths.This has kept the cover in good shape with no loss of reaction.
I got this ball in December of 2006,and with bowling in two leagues it has well over 100 games on it now.I wanted to write this review AFTER some use to be able to be a little more objective after seeing a wider range of lane conditions.

I reviewed this ball quite some time ago but after throwing 100 games with it or so I wanted to re-review it. This ball is the real deal. My average is up 10 pins this year thanks to the NV. The ball hits like a freight train when it gets into the pocket. I wouldn't recommend this ball on light oil conditions but for medium to heavy patterns this is the way to go. I like to play a straighter hook most of the time but with the NV I can afford to move left and play more angle as the lanes break down. Only complaint, it will leave corner pins and that pesky 9 pin once in awhile. This ball is better than the NVS and is probably the best high performance on the market right now.

I bowled in my scratch league tonight, with my TNV and I have had this ball for close to a year now. Or when they first came out I got one. I am really starting to not like it. I keep it clean and polished for the most part and it is starting to lose it's snap. We had our wood lanes sanded and refinished this year and that may be the problem. I have just been struggling this year for the most part. Now at nationals last year this ball worked wonders for me. I put a like sand job on it and actually had a good reaction on synthetics. Definately a good ball if your house shot has a little more oil or for a sport shot with a little more oil. Coverstock is very versatile and hitting power is matched by no other. I just have too many games on it now. Two years of 3 leagues a week and quite a few tournaments make for a beating.

This ball is a little over rated but after a while, this ball starts losing its hook. this ball has a time limit. after bowling 40-60 games, it starts losing its hook. overall, i rate this ball a 7 out of 10.

As an attenedee at one of the Total NV seminars held last year we where told that yes, with games rolled the amount the ball hooks will drop in time depending on the volume of oil you throw on. It has an unbelievable absorption rating that in time needs to be renewed. We where told that the easiest and most effective method was a simple hot water bath. I've had a pair of these with different drillings and really threw them alot. I've done the hot water baths and also resurfaced them and still have close to my original reaction. I actually sold the first one and got the NVS to go with the second TNV and they are the two balls that see the most lineage.
They do lose some hook as you stated with use but it is simple to get it back.

The total nv is in my opinion the best ball I've ever owned. It hits the pocket hard and comes back with a nice arc. The only problem the ball has is if you tense up a little it will leave pins like no other. Last week I shot a 718 181-290-247, given the first game I was tense. Thats the third 700 I've shot with the ball this year currently with a 209 average. I highly recommend this ball to any style of bowler....not the best ball for dry backends. Real good for carry down.

I am a tweener with medium to high ball speed. I found that this ball is very versitile. I can play down and in or i can move deep and hook the ball. Very seldom do i have trouble getting this ball back to the pocket. When this ball hits the pocket it destroys the rack. I shot my first 700 with this ball. Overall, this is a great ball wau to go ebonite!

I got my total nv sometime around may of last year in preperation for a state tournament. Initially, i loved the ball, i ended up shooting a 624 (254, 224, 146) at the state tournament (my avg at the time was around 160, This is still my high series to date). The ball hooked perfect, and was very forgiving. However, after about 75-100 games, although i was cleaning the ball after every session with energizer cleaner, the balls performance had significantly deteriorated. Now, after about 175 games, though my average is about 170, i haven't bowled an average series in almost a month. The ball has lost almost all of its kick, especially on the heavier oil patterns which i commonly bowl on. I am considering a hot water soak or a professional resurfacing in order to avoid purchasing another ball (ive always been a single ball arsenal guy). Because of this, i would not reccomend using this ball on the very heavy oil patterns, and i would recomend having this ball only if it is alongside other quality, more reactive balls as well.

I have this ball drilled with the pin above ring finger and CG is kicked out slightly to the right (5x4). I have owned this ball since it first came out and have used it primarily on PBA experience shots. This ball has been very versatile for me. I have used it on all of the PBA patterns with good success. When I first got it, I tried using it on league patterns but I did not play deep enough inside with it and it was jumpy on the backends. Not the balls fault though. The coverstock on this ball is strong, especially when new. It bounces back quite well after a cleaning and/or hot water soak. This ball has paid for itself several times over in various tournaments so I would definitely recommend this ball. Just know that this is a strong coverstock that clears the front and mids with ease.

I've had this TNV for about a year now. I guess it's time to post up a review.

My TNV is drilled up with pin over bridge, MB kicked out from thumb about 1.5 inch. After I got the ball to track up a little it started to shine. My comfort line is sliding at about 22 - 23, 16-17 at the arrows, out to 8-9 at the breakpoint. I would classify myself as a low tweener/high stroker. This ball isn't a fan of carry down. So I'm always chasing the dry with parallel moves. It does get through the heads very well. (I haven't seen a pearl that doesn't YET.) I mainly bowl on 39ft Top Hat Typical House Shot.

Shot my first 300 with it with it OOB surface. That was after about 150 - 175 games on it. It went downhill for a while. I was having to play straighter. After a good ole' hot water bath and taking it to 1000 abralon + polish it was back to new. The same night I shot a 785 with it. 289, 216, 290. I have around 300 games on it right now and it is still going strong. I have hot water bathed it twice. Right now I'm at 2000 abralon + polish and it is great. Don't be afraid to adjust the surface. Ebonite clearly states that.

I would recommend this ball to anyone. I clean it regularly after every set with the Powerhouse Cleaner. I haven't had a issue with it dying like most do with Ebonites. Maybe I just got a "GOOD" one, maybe I clean mine better than most, maybe I play on the right conditions for it. Who knows.

I do know that this ball has been MONEY for me.

Just recieved this ball from a fellow ballreviews member in a trade. I just recently had it plugged and redrilled, and I also had the coverstock cleaned up a bit. I originally bought one of these balls about 6 months after its release. I did not like the reaction i was getting so i sold it. After a few months of tweeking my game I decided I would try this ball again and aquired one via trade. I have it drilled pin over ring finger about an inch and a half. This drilling creates easy lenght with a very strong and continuos move off the break point. Let me tell you that this ball hits like no other. It gets down the lane with ease and makes a vicious turn to pocket. This ball has a very angular backend reaction and just crushes the pins. I bowled a 659 on a burned up house shot. This is a great ball for a fresh shot. I like to play straight up the 5 board and generally move in as the night progresses.

Update: 8/14/08
I just wanted to give an update on this ball. I used the Total NV on a fairly fresh house shot. I was lofting it out to about the arrows straight up 7-8 board. This ball cornered like a ferari. I shot games of 248, 248 & 219 for a decent 715 series. This ball is a great match for my game!

I wanted to post on this great ball! What I was looking for was a ball that had power and could corner very well, but without being jumpy or over/under. The ball started with 3-4" pin and 31/2 top weight. I placed the pin 11/2" from my val, which placed the pin above and just to the right of my ring finger, it ended up being 33/4" from my pap. The mb I placed 11/2 from the center of my thumb hole, so basically I drew my line from the pin to mb and measured 11/2" right of pin and mb and that was my val line. My pap varies with my release from 31/2" to 33/4", so I track fairly low and get easy length without too much trouble. I'm able to play up the oil line with this lay-out and my release and the ball is really clean through the heads and midline with a strong move at the breakpoint! Not bad first time out in league was 711 with one open which was a 4-6 when I got soft on ball speed. I did leave one eight pin in the tenth frame and one nine pin, with several ten pins. This is probably the lay-out I'm going to use on my new NVD, which I'll post on here next week! Thanks and remember to "Bowl to Win", Bruce

I bought the Total NV, when it first came out, It was good for about 50 games, it worked well, had drilled stacked leverage with weight hole, the ball was killing the pins, I cleaned it after each use, after a while I just couldn't get the ball to turn the corner, If the lanes had heavy oil ball would just go straight, had ball resurfaced, and still nothing, I tried to tweak the coverstock from 800, 1000, 2000 grit, for me this ball was a total disappointment, Not a 'Total NV". I fought with this ball for over 1 year, I really wanted it to work but it didn't. I can use for 10-pin. but this was an expensive 10-pin ball. "Total Disappointment" Sorry Ebonite...
