Hello fellow bowlers

I drilled my nitro/r2 with the pin under the ring finger and cg 3" from pos axis point. Out of the box, this ball was smooth and continous in the back end and work well on med oil/ oil condition. I then polished it and it became a much better looking ball on the medium dry condition. Very controllable and impressive.

My Axis Point is 5 7/8' UP 5/8"
The Pin is placed 4" from the Axis point,
above and right of the ring finger.
The CG is placed 5" from the Axis point and 3/4"
right of the grip centerline and above the midline.

The lanes are Brunswick Pro Anvil Lanes.
40' pattern with carrydown. Plenty of oil
still in the heads. Outside of about 8 was
not real snappy. The best line I found playing
was standing on 25 shooting 12 at the arrows
on this shot going out to about 8 or so.

The R/2 will make a great control ball. It will be the first one out of the bag to get a read of the lanes. With this drilling it gave me a nice controlled arc and good continuation through the pins. The corners carried well.
The ball had good recovery if I leaked it out, if the outside was fresh I
think you would see a even stronger jump off the dry. But it shouldnt get too angular.
If I got it outside too early it wanted to cross over, but not drastically.
It held good if I pulled it and carried several brooklyn side strikes. I believe the carrydown aided in this , so if the backend is dry you might see a stronger snap left.
The R/2 can cover plenty of boards not a ton but enough. The box finish is ok (1000 grit Abralon) but I think it needs just alittle tweak for a little extra bite.Unless you want it on a drier pattern then give it a shine.

Drilling: Pin 4-1/2" from PAP and CG 4" from PAP
AMF synthetic, medium oil in the middle and light outside.
Oiled to 38' and buffed out to 42'

This ball is even better than the original! The Bomber cover really matches up well with the weight block to give a strong and controllable reaction. I thought the original was good, but this one is great. Great choice for med/heavy oil conditions when you want control. Carry is excellent and ball is holding up well with several games on it.

Layout:
4 x 3 1/2 Pin above fingers
no weight hole

Perfect benchmark ball. Fresh conditions is where this ball shines for me.
The ball motion is not as angular as a Big Time Sanded, but pretty equal in strength.

I altered the surface to 1000 and polished it using Ebonite Factory Finish.
This gave me a similar ball motion that I have with my XXCel just not quite a strong.

If you are looking for a first ball out bag ball or a ball to build a arsenal around this would be a good ball to consider.

I drilled this one with the pin 4" from my axix and a 90 degree core angle. This put the CG just about in the center of my grip and the pin just to the right of my ring finger. The new NR2 is every bit as good as the original. If you liked the original you will love this one. In this time of super aggressive and overreacting cover-core matches it is refreshing to have a ball in my hand that is strong enough to get up through the pile in the middle and still not over react in the drier boards to the right. A lot of control with just enough power mixed in to be super effective on just about everything that I have thrown it on. Including some of the PBA regional and sport patterns that I bowl on from time to time.

This is a great ball for the Ebonite Classic Series. The Nito R2 rolls very consistent down the lane with a smooth arching motion to the pocket. I was surprised with how well this ball handled in oil and carried on the backend of the lanes. The ball allowed me to play a variety of positions on the lanes. This ball allowed me to create some nice scores when throwing it. I had some games of 287,269,248,278,256. I didn't have trouble carrying the corner pins in three different houses. One house was Urethane,Synthetics, and wood, while the last house was using guardian surface. I had no problem on any of the conditions.

This ball is one of the new Ebonite releases that I've put in the bag recently. I drilled this one the same as my Crossfire (see above,) and surfaced it with 1000, then 2000 grit abralon. It is very smooth and strong, picking up early if there's early friction. I stay inside the oil line with this piece. Backend is surprisingly strong for a piece with a bit of surface, and even on carrydown, the mix is excellent. It covers alot of boards in a very controllable manner, and carries better than I had expected. A very unassuming, solid performer.

Probably one of the most controllable balls i've ever thrown. Great ball to pull out first to see how the lanes are behaving. I was very surprised at how well this ball responded to different hand positions and different lines. Very under rated. It grows on me the more i throw it. Now its coming out of my bag just about as much as The One. Overall surprisingly good ball.

Mine is an original R2. Label drilled, slightly left from Nitro logo to add some top weight. No axis hole, pin is 2-3" down and to the right of ring finger, surface 1500 polished

I've had this ball since I bowled varsity in high school, 14 years, and it is still a dependable performer today, still gets down the lane with a strong continuous arcing motion at the backend. This was my go-to ball for years and now it is my weaker ball next to my Complete NV and compliments it well. when my NV is too snappy or over/under I can go to my R2 and have greater consistency and predictability in my reaction (this ball keeps me out of trouble when my NV is out of control). Still hits like a truck, awesome pin action, leaves more 10 pins than I would like but also sometimes hits so hard it blows right by the 9 pin and I get tapped. surprising considering the ball is 14 years old and has not truly been taken care of properly throughout its life and has never been resurfaced. Gets through the heads extremely well. doesn't burn up when the heads are dry like my NV does. At the house I bowl in now they're juicy up front and bone dry on the backend so this ball shines there. This ball can still get quite angular when it tickles a dry board some 45 feet down the lane has a nice skid/flip reaction still under the right condition, but performs well on all conditions really one of the most consistent and predictable balls i've ever known.
