BALL REACTION

Midlane Read: not as early as some of our other products, but this helps make the ball more continuous and retain axis rotation down the lane.

Breakpoint Shape: strong arc. Wouldn't consider this a skid/flip, but certainly more angle down lane than some of our other asymmetric products.

COMMENTS

Likes: I like this longer, cleaner coverstock. I think this will be a usable piece for a lot of different bowlers as it doesn't anchor the mid lane so hard. It retains energy to the back end a lot better than some of our other covers and is versatile. If you're looking for a stronger mid lane, then don't be afraid to hit the cover with 2000 or 1000 depending on your speed to rev ratio. I intend to try and polish this cover and see if I get an even more defined breakpoint shape. This will also match up better to the higher friction environment that I see 95% of the time.

Dislikes: struggles to get through the pins when the back ends become a little sloppy. I really have to make sure I get some nice side roll to get the ball to continue through the pin deck. This is my natural game though so I don't see it as a detriment. If you're a heavy high roller, then this may be the only drawback.

COMMENTS

Likes: This ball is smoother than the vital sign and allows for a more direct angle to the pocket. This is a great tournament piece to have in the bag. If the outside part of the lane has over and under this ball with some surface on it is a great weapon.

Dislikes: Lingers a little bit on longer patterns. If this happens add surface or fingers

60Â° layout Pin placement is 5" from the PAP, located below the ring
finger. Mass Bias placement is 3.25" right of the centerline, below and
to the right of the thumb hole. No weight hole.

The Vital Energy revs up quicker and sharper at the breakpoint on the THS than the Vital Sign . The ball still hits very hard and if anything is more angular but just as readable as the Vital Sign. I have found the ball to be extremely forgiving to small variations in release, and ball speed, which of course translates to great scoring. The ball just doesn't seem to punish you that often for a shot that's a bit off. The Vital Energy is a great compliment to the Vital Sign. Another wonderful addition to the Ebonite's great family of bowling balls.

Likes: Out of the box it is 4000 dull.... I actually own 2 Vital Energys. One is 3000 polish and is drilled 52x 5 5/8 x50 (not dual angle layout) and the other is 4000 Polish and is drilled 105x 5 5/8 x50 (not dual angle layout). For those of you that measure MB to PAP 4 1/8 inches and 8 inches respectively. I am also right handed. The middle number is the measurement for Pin to PAP.

When the ball was dull, it really jumped off the breakpoint but, when I polished them, it tamed that backend. I obviously really like this ball because if I didn't I would not of bought another one. Both of these Vitals are very smooth, very predictable, and you will not be disappointed when you get yours.

Dislikes: Can't find one....

My ball speed is approximately. 17-18 MPH and my rev rate is approximately 400-450 (I need a better camera to get a number a little more accurate than this).

Just got this ball on Friday. Only bowled two games with it and I already love it! My first game on a THS was a 156. My second game was a 140. I hade to borrow some house shoes so that kinda took about 10 pins off each game. I had it drilled with the ring finger next to the pin. This ball reads the mids excellent and is violent in the backend. I had it drilled and threw it straight out of the box. I just need to make some adjustments to my approach and maybe my release. I definitely would recommend thi ball to anyone looking to increase their average. Thanks Ebonite!

The vital energy is another great piece from ebonite international. If you like a ball with good midlane and a strong controlable backend this is the ball for you. I layed this one out with a 40X5X30 which is pin above the ring finger and the mass bias two inches right of the thumb. Left it at the box finish. The ball is very versatil I think. I have had success on sport and house patterns with it. This is a great ball for anyones arsenal.

The Vital Energy reads mid lane and has a great charge on the backends. I used the ball at the USBC Women's Championship Tournament and had a great reaction using it. The Vital Energy would read mid lane and then make a continuous charge to the pocket. Even though the oil carried down, the ball still made its way to the pocket and never lost any energy.

I have been using the ball on a THS and when the lanes start to dry up midland, the ball revs up harder and has a sharper backend reaction. Due to this sharp reaction, I tend to leave a lot of 9 pins.

The Vital Energy is another great ball by Ebonite.

This is the first ever mid-performance ball that I have ever purchased from Ebonite. It was based on feedback from my new driller after having some issues with the former shop I went to. I was looking for a ball that would fit between my Storm Anarchy and Roto Grip Nomad Dagger. Also, I wanted to move up to 16lbs as I was having control and speed issues with my 15lb arsenal.

I had the Vital Energy punched with the pin drilled out in the ring finger, 5 inch pin to CG distance as this would give me length and a sharp backend. This was a layout I wanted since most of my equipment is pin above and tends to read the midlane more. Also having a higher speed and medium rev rate (19-22mph, 380-430 rpm), it was going to be a good match. This ball delivers everything I wanted and then some.

Throwing the Vital Energy, I immediately noticed how clean it is in front and how it had a very defined breakpoint. This is a motion that I was missing from my arsenal and it's one that I fell in love with right away. Throwing it on the heaviest house shot in the area was no problem. I played further outside than I usually do, but it worked perfectly. This ball retained its energy and as long as I got it out to the 8th board, it roared back with no problem. Moving deeper was not an issue- the ball retained its energy and carried very well.

A huge positive with this ball besides the defined breakpoint is how continuous it is through the backend. I noticed no deflection whatsoever. Also, the pins stayed very low and was able to carry some off-pocket hits. As long as I got the Vital Energy to my target, the ball did the rest. The few times I pulled it or missed 2-3 boards left, it held perfectly. Even though this pattern is heavier than what this ball is designed for, it was very usable and provided a lot of versatility.

Another huge positive is that I did not find any over/under like I have with some other balls I've used with 4000 as the box finish. Consistancy was a big win with this piece.

Now, my Nomad Dagger is a benchmark in my arsenal. However, I think the Vital Energy will fast become the new benchmark as it is the cleanest up front and offers the best predictability out of any ball I own.

If you have not checked out Ebonite for a while, it's definitely time to check them out again. From a guy who switched from the Ebonite family to Storm/Roto Grip last year (threw Columbia 300 for a long time), I am very impressed. This is one of the better releases Ebonite has put out in a while.
