We recently received our Striking Effect program package and I immediately grabbed this ball and drilled it. I threw it in the Sport League that I bowl in.

I laid this ball out with the CG 4" and the Pin 5". I left the ball out of the box.

The Sport shot I bowled on was heavy oil 12 to 12 with 12 to 7 being drier, and 6 to the gutter is a flood.

I was able to move in deeper with this ball and hold the line. When I turned it up, it would still get down the lane and save its energy for a smooth midlane move to the pocket. This ball had good recovery and when it gets the pocket it explodes the pins.

If you like that Vortex Line, you have to put this in your bag. If you are looking for a good midlane arcing ball that can handle medium-heavy oil, this is the ball. I have thrown every Vortex, and this coverstock is the strongest by far.

The Vortex II Particle is unlike any particle solid I've seen.

Specs:
15 lb.
2" pin
4 oz. TW

Drill Specs"
5 X 5 (pin above bridge)
Box finish
Tested on fresh house shot (36', 10 to 10 with 50 units in the middle)

If you've been looking for a particle that you can go coast to coast with, look no further because this is it.

Tested this ball along with the Dynothane Cure and realized just how different particles can be.  Played in the oil with the Cure swinging 15 to 5 and got a nice big curve.  That didn't happen with the Vortex II Particle.  Playing the same line I got a near hockey stick reaction with the V2 going 2-3 feet farther and coming back at an angle I couldn't believe.

The V2 Particle reacts like a strong reactive on screaming backends, but does it on conditions where you wouldn't expect to get that reaction.  The weird thing is that it comes back from anywhere, but it isn't jerky.  I can't really explain the move, but it's not the stop and turn that you see from many of the big boy balls out there.  Kind of picture how a NASCAR driver takes a car way up on a bank on a steep incline in a turn and drops it off down low on the straightaway.

This is just a great particle dull, I may have to get another and shine it up.  For those of you who have been wanting a particle with a big backend, Ebonite makes it and it's called the Vortex 2 Particle.

I drilled two of these, one four strong box condition, the other three by the val polished.  The one that is four strong gave me more length than I expected out of a sanded particle ball which saves me sanding a V2 solid.  It also has stronger backends than I thought a particle ball would.  I feel this ball will bridge the gap between resin and particle because it doesn't use itself up like most particle balls do for my limited hand.

The three inch polished I drilled for a sport league I bowl in.  They only oil 39 feet and the backends go sideways.  This gives me control through the whole lane.  If I make a good shot I strike, and if I make a bad shot at least I know where it's going.

I think the V2 particle is more versitile than your average particle ball.
Good Job Ebonite.

I've only thrown 9 games with mine so far, but all I can say is WOW! Does this ball carry and HOOK. Mine is drilled with about an 11:00 drilling, pin just right of the grip line above the finger holes, cg kicked right about 2" with a deep balance hole at 90 degrees from the center of the grip line. Box coverstock condition.

First 3 games on brand new AMF synthetics that are stripped each time they're dressed. Hook, hook and more hook. As they broke down I moved everything left 10 boards and cut the revs down. I hooked by several corners by not allowing for the coast to coast hook. Only averaged 189 for the night.

Last night on wood with 22' of the dreaded guardian I shot 627 the first set and 551 the second (different pair). Both sets had to move and change release as the heads got dry on the right lane. Went from 0 to 45 degrees release angle to get some push down the lane. Had lots of trip 4s. I needed to have eaten my wheaties for when the lanes dried up though. Guardian is so soft that it really bleeds energy from any non-shiny equipment.

I'll post again later when I've got more games on the ball.

This is a great ball for heavy oil!!! It clears the heads wonderfully and gives a good crisp reaction in the back...I polished mine and had a great shot on a normal house shot that was blocked from 10 to 10.  On a sport shot I had to adjust the surface with a burgundy scotch brite pad and the ball was like gold last night on my league I shot 279-244-245 stayed in the same spot all night playing over 30 left out to 12 right and was in the pocket most of the night... I should have made an adjustment and the scores may have stayed up

I've been using this ball for a couple of months now (probably 80 games) so I thought it would be time to write it up.  I'm basically a medium RH tweener, see my profile for additional info.

I got this ball to handle those occasions when they actually put some long oil out and my Blaze gets "squirty", or when the carry-down gets out of hand and/ or the backends aren't there.

Ball specs:

15#
3" pin
drilled stacked leverage with the pin slightly above the ring.
Weight hole on PAP

Lane conditions:  Two houses, both Brunswick synthetics.  House #1 has the old (no stripe) and I bowl in two leagues, a scratch league (3-man) and a men's league (5-man)both on fresh shots, although the 5-man shot seems to be thinner (goes away in about 15 frames).  House #2 has the new Anvilane with the stripes and breakpoint markers where I bowl in second shift scratch league (3-man).

This is one powerful ball. When the conditions are right, especially in house #1 it's a killer.  Last night I was able to bowl the whole four games set with only a one board move for new personal bests in three and four game series.

The ball revs off the hand really well, and a release adjustment can cause it to react differently to suit the conditions.  Last night I was using my end-over-end high-track release, but I've also been able to "top" it with good results (track drops about an inch).  The reaction has been described here before, but I'd call it a slightly rounded hockey stick, that stays that way even after the lanes are spotty.

It's usually my first ball out of the bag, as it reads the conditions well and let's me know whether it's going to be usable.  Only problem I've had is that I like the feel of this ball so much, that it's hard to put it away, even when it's not working.  It's usually done by the middle of the second game in my 5-man league, and sometimes won't work at all on my second-shift league.  Then again, when the back-ends go away, I can often bring it back out with some success.

This is my first "non-Storm" ball, but it could make me a convert.

The Vortex 2 Particle is a great compliment to one of the best balls ever in the V2 solid.  I have drilled two V2 Particle's, one has the pin at 5 inches from my PAP with no balance hole and the other is a 4 x 2.5 lay out with a balance hole in my PAP.  The Vortex 2 Particle with the 4 x 2.5 layout really gets into a strong midlane roll on wetter league conditions, especially on synthetic lanes.  The Vortex 2 Particle with the 5 inch layout is my benchmark ball on medium length sport conditions and longer PBA patterns.  The Vortex 2 Particle cuts through carrydown and provides that same consistent heavy roll in the midlane that makes the V2 solid such a great ball.  The surface on the Vortex 2 Particle is adjustable and can work on medium conditions at times, if shined.

The hooking nature of the Vortex 2 Particle is similar to the V2 solid. It may not visually appear to be angular except for bowlers with strong rev rate/speed releases. However on heavier oil an early heavy rolling arc is desired instead of the a ball that wants to store energy. In these situations, "Go long and TRY to hook hard" isn't the answer as the more angular hooking ball will slide through the breakpoint area.

The Vortex 2 Particle will have roll out issues for those with soft ball speed combined with broken down head conditions or on lightly oiled lanes .

Anyone who had success with the Vortex 2 solid reactive ball should have a Vortex 2 Particle for heavier oil.  Those who have not tried the Vortex II Particle should consider rolling a great mid-price choice that provides consistent heavy rolling ball reaction.

Well, well, well. Check out my post for the V2 solid that will explain
my love for the particle as well. I have mine drilled 4 x 2 with mass bias
2" from my PAP. This ball is also a "true" oil piece. I am thoroughly pleased
with the reaction although I have only been able to play with it twice since
I have had it which has been a little over a month. I was looking for 2 "great"
oil pieces that complimented one another very well and I have found that in the
V2 particle and V2 solid. Prior to this my "go to" balls for oil were a Sledgehammer drilled 3x5 and surfaced to 400 grit and an Erase-It drilled stacked leverage surfaced to 400 also. Check out my posts for those 2. These two balls did fine but forced to me to square too much and did not leave me with much room for error but still allowed me to play on extreme oil. Now with the V2 tag team I can now place them a little lower in my arsenal which might work out for the best anyway. EBONITE U ARE THE BOMB!!!!!!!

Read profile for my specs:

Ball: 15.02lbs, 2.5"pin and 3.25 top weight.
Drill pattern: 4X4
House: Good wood, very heavy oil for 37' buffed to 39'
oil line: 7 to 7, OB down lane from 3 out.

Have had this ball for about a month. Have only been able to use at one house due to oil shortage in the others. I really like this ball out of the gate. It is the most readable ball I have ever thrown. With this drill for me what I put into the ball I get back. If I grab some hand it rolls up harder and if I top it its weak but you know it automatically. The first two weeks I had it in box finish, and had to chase the oil each game but did well enough to shoot 645,685 so I decided to add some of Doc's Magic elixir and a light coat of Black Magic. Well the monster just got better. It did alter my line somewhat but opens up the lane a little better and holds more of the energy so it hits even better. I have shot 686,718. I had bought this ball for the ABC tournament to play in singles and doubles and believe I have gotten even more than I asked for with this piece of equipment.

Rating: 2 out of 10, don't want any of you to buy one and see how good its is for control. LOL

Reality: Rating is 9 out of 10 as ball does everything I hoped for and has more control than I dreamed of. I might buy another and set it up longer and polish it for more inside angles.

Wow can't believe that I had not posted a review for
this ball yet!
I happen to be a huge fan of the V2 series,
so much so that there have been regional tourneys where
that would be all you would find in my arsenal!
I have three of the V2 particles. The best thing about
this ball is that, even though it is a particle, the weight
block gives you the same shape as the V2 solid...just a little
earlier breakpoint, definitely hits like a truck even when the
volume of oil is high.
I would say that if you are in the market for a strong particle ball,
you really could not go wrong with this choice

Got my V-2 Partical and through my first league with this ball.
I am a long-time fan of the "original" Vortex, wanted something a little stronger for when the backends were wet. The V-2 Partical was the answer!
This ball is a great companion to my "original" Vortex. Drilled to hook-up early with a small balance hole this ball seams to work great.

Overall

I bought this ball to fill the oil part of my arsenal. The ball has one of the most aggressive shells/core combination I have ever thrown(the only one I can think that tops it is the V2 Strong). I can keep under the ball and get some good length and strong recovery from this ball. Mainly I don't run into to many heavy oil shots, but when I do this ball is the ball to go to. I must do  cup my wrist and give it some grip pressure, it only allows me to play up the boards but what ever scores. Eat your Wheates.

Sport Shot

This ball tends to flare a little too much for most sports shots but I manage when there is some oil out side. I tend not to have the greatest luck playing up the boards but when I move to the 3rd or 4th arrow it tends to hold really well on the outside ten boards allowing me to through a flush strike. This ball really elminates the out of bounce (you still have to through quailty shots).

Pro's

Takes the out of bounce out of effect.

Con's[/b]

Tends to over react after a 1/2 dozen shots becuase the head oil is soaked up.

Drilling
2 and 1/2 Mass Bias in the track
Small weight hole in my PAP
Box Finish

I'm not one that talks about scores but the first night with this ball I throw 300 the first game and end up shooting 793.  I am extremely pleased with the breakpoint motion of this ball.  It reads the midlane VERY well and goes to the pocket strong.  I was afraid that this ball would be too much, and it is quite a bit of hook, but nowhere near burning up.  It was the first dull particle ball I have been able to play inside with any luck.

Overall this ball is phenomenal, I will be drilling another one very shortly.
Definitely a great heavy oil ball for heavy handed players.
