yes this is the black label.   I have used a 16lbs ball for the past 13 years, due to a concussion, still recovering from and not being able to work out, I dropped down to a 15lb ball.   It was my first 300 and my first 800.

the 15lb ball gave me more speed and control and power.   I would have had the first 21, but a messenger(I never get them) missed the 10 pin.

Regular average 220

Ohh. Congrats on the first 300 and 800. I haven't got there yet. But I will...hopefully,

And hope you feel better with the concussion, soon

One thing I really liked about this ball was the POP it had at the end.   it actually SNAPPED back.  Most balls I've thrown, 16lbs, never had that snap and I'd leave 10 pins after 10 pins.  I think going a pound lighter helped with that, but if it didn't. WOW.  I am now looking to buy the Gold Label Elite for a dryer condition.  I receive a free ball and am going with the pearlized ogre SS I believe it is.    I do have a 40% off coupon for elite, so I may also get that as well.

any thoughts?

If you are in need of a dry lane ball then yeah, go with the Gold Label. I always wanted to try out the Green Alien. Maybe some day I will?

have you ever thrown the gold label?

I was also thinking of the solar eclipse, but I am really impressed with the "snap" of the elite label.

I haven't but I have seen a bowler at my alley throw one on drier/light volume of medium oil and it reacted very nice on the backend(snappy on the backs). I haven't seen the Solar Eclipse but I know it's supposed to be good for drier patterns as well.

Unfortunetly I have no Visionary equipment. I have InSite and Banger equipment which is made by Visionary. I do want to buy a Ogre Particle and a Gladiator Solid one Day. You can go to the Review list and it should tell you info on the ball.

I have the Elite Solar Eclipse.

It's drilled under the bridge with the CG kicked right of that about .75".

Personally I don't like this ball, we don't get along very well.  It gets way too much length and makes almost a 90 degree left turn to the pocket.  When it hit the pins it never impressed me and carry was always suspect.

Instead of playing with the cover I use my other prefered light oil equipment.  I just use it and the solid version for open bowling with family and friends.

If you are indeed looking for a light to dry lane ball the Solar Eclipse might fit your bill.  It's damn weaker than my Neptune.
