3 New Widows
« on: November 26, 2015, 11:44:07 AM »
Hammer just approved 3 new balls on the USBC approved ball list. BW CFI Gold, CFI Black, Red, Orange, and Legend Blue, Light Blue, Blue. I figured the CFI ones are overseas. If anyone knows anything about how I can located them that would be great. Just need the country they are going to.

The widows are an excellent line of balls no matter how old the core design is. It's proven and works, obviously. In another thread, it was stated that coverstock matters much more than core numbers, which we know via the USBC ball study. So I don't blame them for slapping new tread on an old faithful motor. As long as consumers keep buying them, Hammer will release 2 a year forever. Which is OK by me.

There was a lot of comparison to the Break and Widow weight block when it comes to motion. 900 Global just put the same weight block in a mis priced ball because they've more than made their R&D money back. Hammer should too, honestly.

You should check more of the overseas releases. They are still running the Vibe series, which are unrelated to the private stock runs from BowlersMart.

By comparison, Ebonite is still releasing balls in the NV, One, and Mission lines, with a Revolution NV and Last Mission having been recently released. It was what.. 2008/2009 when the last NV ball rolled out of the factory here (Complete NV, if I remember right)?

If the series is still good and still gets good results and purchases, why halt the cash cow? keep it going.

It is a name and a core. Slightly different covers or colors and keep it moving.

How many times do companies use the same core, and put a different ball name and logo and run more covers over an older core? A lot, why, because it is easy and it works.

Nothing is changing, just selling the same product usually with a different core every so often. People feel good having an excuse to buy new stuff plain and simple.

I got a few overseas The Ones in and a Pivot Move. Just cause they were priced right and I liked the looks. They roll great, and I look forward to getting more here and there. Also really like the Columbia Resurgence Fire. Right look, right price.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.
