COMMENTS

Likes: After using for 9 games now. The Hook was able to work OB or polished to factory finish. The difference between the two was the length in the mid to back of lane. The Hook controlled the breakdown better polished as expected. Easy moves in to the left as the pattern opened up to the outside due to heavy track play.

Drilled this ball today and wow the word Hook is on the ball for a reason. Bowled on fresh oil today and this ball just reads the pattern so well and hooks a ton and hits so hard. It was used out of the box so I havent done anything with it yet and its just sick.

Gonna polish it and hope I get the same if not more out of it. Great new ball by Hammer especially since this is a mid price ball.

Layout=60x5x35
Rev Rate=425

Wow the Absolut Hook is exactly what it say a lot of hook. Like the Absolut Curve it has the amazing Fat Max core but with a little duller cover than the Curve. For me this ball gets a little earlier read in the midlane but transition for this ball is sick. It hooks out the building. Im easily 5 boards further left with this ball than I was with my Curve. This ball will find a spot in my bag for the long hall. Hammer and Jeff Ussery hit it out of the park again with the release of the Absolut hook. If you want a ball that has a ton of hook potential that you can control on house conditions get the Absolut Hook you wont be disappointed.

BOWLING BALL:   HAMMER ABSOLUT HOOK
CORE:           "NEW" FATMAX
COVER:      "NEW" H-200 SOLID
RG / DIFF      15# RG (2.51) Diff (.044)
LAYOUT:      70 X 5 3/4 X 50
SURFACE:      BOX FINISH 800-1000-2000-2000 ABRANET
LANE PATTERN:   TYPICAL HOUSE 41', MEXICO CITY 45'

PROS:   With the combo-nation of the new FatMax core shape and our H-200 Crosscover Reactive shell, the Absolut Hook gives Hammer bowlers the most HOOK mid-price ball from the Hammer line in years. This ball out of the box for me continued to get stronger the more games I put on it. Absolut Hook strong mid lane and massive continuation thru the pins is just sick!! On the house shot this is ball if there is enough volume I can throw it. Hook is very easy to read and I love the motion of this ball as it always transitions well before the end of the pattern.  On Mexico City HOOK matched very good on the longer, heavier volume pattern. I was able to start left and just migrate as the pattern broke down. I only averaged 254 for 8 games with Hook.  This ball is going to be all around versatile for all types and different styles of bowlers. This is a must in every bowler’s bag.

CONS:   Only bad if you don’t get one in your bowling arsenal.

With the success of the Absolut Curve, when the info about the Hook was released, I was excited. I love the Curve and use it a lot, but it tends to be a little too much angle in the backends for me at times. The Hook definitely compliments the Curve & fits perfectly in the Hammer lineup. The “Fat Max” core with a new coverstock helps blend the mid part of the lane and offers a strong continuous motion in the backends. This motion of this ball reminds me of the Arson, but stronger overall (earlier & more in the backends). In fact, I brought out my original Arson out of retirement that have the similar layout (2000 surface) and the Hook was 5 boards stronger overall…. AMAZING ~ An Arson on Steriods!!

Dislikes:
Needs to be used on the medium to medium heavier patterns. Even with the weaker layout I had on this ball, it was a little too much ball with my rev rate. I had to bring up the surface to 4000 Abralon to get the ball down the lane a little easier. Still a little too strong for the lighter patterns, but Hammer has other balls to combat those patterns!

I think this ball will be the best “Bang of your Dollar” oil ball for the majority of bowlers. This ball has a great motion that does not stop rolling in the backend – it really continues through the pin deck!

The release date for this ball is Tuesday Nov 19th, so make sure you place your pre-order through your local pro shop.

BOWLING BALL:   HAMMER ABSOLUT HOOK
CORE:                 FATMAX
COVER:               H-200 SOLID

LANE CONDITION:  Several

Length: several

Volume:

Type:    THS, USBC Blue pattern, Kegel Bourbon Street

Likes: The Absolut Hook with the Low RG Fatmax Core is a very heavy rolling ball.  My 2000 Abralon finish gives me a very strong continuous hook from the mid-lane through the pindeck.  Love the dark color combination.  Great piece that every bowler needs to have in his/her arsenal.  An absolut winner from the Hammer Team here!

Dislikes: Poor ball choice for dry heads

I have had this ball for a couple months now and have waited to review bc I wasn't a huge fan of its predecessor the Absolut Curve.. and now that its got some games on it.. I love it.. It has a more aggressive cover than the CURVE and it really shows.. Its not over the top stupid hook but a complete package midlane/downlane arch.. The carry on this ball is great.. esp for some like me who doesn't carry a lot of corner pins..  :D worth every freaking penny!!!!

The ball does what the name says "HOOK"

Length: 40

Volume: medium to high

SOme of the house shots in this area play almost like tournament patterns. This ball made it look like a regular house shot. 60*5*40 o.o.b. Ball hits very hard to be a med line ball. High end ball reaction is what you get out of this piece. Even shined up this ball makes a great move to the pocket with out expanding its energy to fast. This is that big piece that fits everybody's budget.

Likes: Ball is very versatile in the way that even with surface changes it continues to give you a great ball motion

Dislikes: none
