Blue Vibe
« on: December 25, 2008, 04:14:03 AM »
Can this ball be drilled to work well on short/light oil patterns? The general consensus seems to be that it reads earlier and is rollier then the other vibes. I have a rev rate over 500, speed anywhere from 16-20+mph depending on conditions, and my track is somewhat on the lower side of medium. I need a ball to clear the heads when they are fried and arc on the back with enough strength to carry. Do you think I can make the blue vibe work with the layout and polish? If not, what would you suggest? Besides a Rayzr!

With that rev rate, I really don't know. You might need all of that 20 mph ball speed and maybe more.

I use it with its stock 4000 grit Abralon + polish surface, with my maybe 250 rpms, the ball does cover light to medium-light oil patterns.
Fried heads - NO!
Even with a 5.5" - 6" pin to PAP, I thinkt he coverstock and lowish  RG (2.51) core may be a bit too much ball for the conditions you're talking about.

The Cherry also covers light to medium-light, clears the heads better than the Blue because it's a pearl, not a solid but has more backend.
I'd look towards the Razyr or better yet a urethane, maybe a pearl urethane or a real light oil ball: old Lane#1 Bullet,

Might be easier to pick up a Lane #1 Chainsaw than finding a Bullet.  My Cherry Vibe works on pretty dry conditions, but when the lanes are absolutely scorched I pull out the Bullet and drive it up right between the 15-20.

i suppose it could work if you put a longer drill on it. if you can find a purple vibe that would be even better imo. or go with the avalanche slide or jazz. they may be too snappy though

new clash teal. long and smooth at the backend. very clean through the heads. mine is drilled weak. I also have a couple blue vibes. The blue vibes are great but from your description you gave I think a clash would be better
