Since I am fairly new to bowling, I don't know how my ball is drilled. It hooks like crazy, loves the oil, hates the dry! My first game during league, I bowled a 188, and my average is a 140 or so. I have rolled a 239 with this ball, but I've also rolled a 99! Depends on the oil and the day. I'm now looking for a ball to use after the lanes dry out.

I am surprised that there was only one other post about the burn. I have two that I pretty much use as my number 1 and number 2 ball most of the time in league. One is pin under and the other is pin over the fingers. I find the balls to be very aggressive and hard hitting although my rev rate is only about 275. No 300's yet with the balls, but pretty much in the 200-269 range every game. Our THS plays very well with the burn.

I have drilled two of them so far.

Ball # 1 was drilled with a 5" Pin to PAP layout. This placed the pin at 12 o'clock. CG was stable with no weight hole necessary.

With this layout I got the most length and most backend reaction out of it. I have used this ball on medium heavy conditions all the way down to the lighter side of medium conditions. This ball performs best when the oil has burnt up some and the duller stuff starts giving you a fuzzy reaction or over reaction.

Ball # 2 was drilled with a 4 1/2" Pin to PAP layout with the CG slightly kicked right however, no weight hole was needed. This one put the Pin above my ring finger. This one rolls up a tad bit sooner but still gets the right amount of length to still perform well on the backend.

The Burn is a wonderful benchmark ball to have in the arsenal when everything else in the bag gives you a question mark on which ball to use or how the lanes are playing, a very predictable and consistent skid/snap reaction.

Very impressed with the BURN from Hammer!

COMMENTS

Likes:The Burn is extremely clean through the heads and gives a very predictable reaction once it reaches the friction. It is also forgiving if you miss your mark to the outside but tends to over hook if you get too far inside. If your accuracy is on it is tough to get a more steady predictable ball than the Burn.

Dislikes: It takes a few games to get used to the color and be able to read the ball as it goes downlane.
