BWL
« on: May 09, 2015, 01:27:01 PM »
Anyone having issues with black widow legend after 90 games or so? I clean my gear all the time, use a microfiber towel between frames etc....after about 70 games it lost some reaction at 90 games it was almost dead. And yes I made surface adjustments, had it de oiled after 45 games and all of that....I took it to the shop for a resurfacing bu didnt pick it up yet. Anyone else have issues?

Just on the off-chance that something else is happening ...
This is Spring and centers are, at least around here, adding extra oil in their annual Spring attempt to con you into coming back next year.
Could your house have changed something or is there extra humidity in the spring rains that may make the oil seem more slippery?

It may be the bowling alley. I've bowled well over 100 games with me B.W. Legend and keep it as well maintained as I can and haven't seen any significant change in reaction. Some change is expected, but ball death shouldn't be one of them.

Its not the house or the oil, all of my "weaker" balls are stronger then the BWL now at the same house. But I got it from the shop, using it tonight and if it doesnt work its dead. It was my favorite all time ball, if its done I'll be mad and I maintain my stuff. I also used it at 2 other house just to make sure and I got the same results...weak reaction, bad hits.

Over the last month my BWL wasn't doing its job as normal. Lately have been using my Amp Up in its place. I've had my BWL since November and only touched up the surface, two weeks ago I de oiled it which got next to nothing, I clean my equipment to a high standard, put some surface on it with a tad bit of Snake Oil, it is back to business as usual. Hopefully after you pick up yours from the shop you will have the same results!

May I suggest a potential surface before you kick it "into its grave"?
If you used it dull, try 500/2000.
If you used it polished, try 500/1000 + a light hand polish.

if your weaker balls are acting stronger at that house perhaps they are goingeasy on the oild and the the widow is burning up and appearing weaker.

I probably have 80-100 games on mine.  It is still my long oil option

Tried it last night, the proshop brought it back to as close as oob as possible....The house oiled pretty decent for a change...practice before league....1st shot into the 3 pin, went to other lanem burried the 3 pin, switched back to other lane...again the 3 pin...Took the wrecker out and crushed the pocket...put the BWL away. Will try it again at a different house on Wednesday and see what happens. This was my favorite all time ball and now im afraid its R.I.P...ps where do you get this snake oil? Never heard of it...Thanks

i for one, did not like the BWL, was very disappointing to say the least
my buddy bought one at the same time
i sold mine pretty quick, his, we tweaked the surface multiple times until it came to life
I believe the issue for me, was that the cover was a bit to slick, way to much over under
if i would have tried a lower grit under some polish, it may have been better.
more than likely that i just match up better with mostly symmetric pieces
i cant say i have ever been in love with a piece that has higher diff numbers
im sure its just me, my .02 worth though.

so, give the piece 500 or 1000 + polish and see what it does, should be a decent amount of backend depending on what shot you have. its not really a heavy oiler
